Hi All,

I have three unrelated questions to ask. I didn't want to do 3 different posts.

1. Is it only me that finds that Scurl tangles their hair? I decided to go without using it this week and my hair/ends are not tangled..not as soft but not tangled. When I use the scurl it's almost like dealing with a spider's web. I can't find my way out of it...lol. Am I using too much maybe? Maybe using it 2-3x a week so it has a chance to dry?

2. For those of you who self relax...and do the front first and then the back. How do you keep the relaxer you are washing out from the back section from washing into the already neutralized front section? I'm aware you can wash it all again once you are done but how much is actually being washed back into the front section? Any tips on that? I know Den covers the sections with plastic but what prevents the water from going underneath?
Edited to add:For the relaxers....I meant the people who relax the front half and then wash and then relax the back half.

3. How does your bone comb compare to non-bone combs? In terms of hair loss, breakage, detangling. Has the bone comb really cut down on the breakage and detangling issues for you or has your method changed?

Thanks /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I can only answer #3. I have bone-combs in every size you can think of. I believe that I comb out less hair due to "snagging" or "cutting" by using these combs. As for detangling, well...for me they are just combs, not miracle workers...I still have to be patient when removing tangles /images/graemlins/smile.gif

1. Do not use the S-Curl to detangle. Do you try to wear your hair straight with S-Curl? If so, its not a good idea. I use S-Curl for moisture when I put my hair in a bun or on braids for a braid out.

2. When my mom relaxed my hair, she started from the middle and went out to the edges.

I dont use Scurl products.

Bone combs---I use on my hair dry. Not only less snarls and tears, but they are a great styling tool.

Wash all your hair at once. It doesnt make as much differnce as you think. I have never washed my hair any other way.

Thanks ladies. No, I don't use the scurl to detangle. But...the fact that it's in my hair and I go to comb it out the next day...I have nothing but tangles. I only use it with my hair up. I know it wouldn't work with it down. But lets say I spray it on Friday and my wash day is Saturday...my hair is all tangled..the ends especially. That's why I'm thinking I should maybe spray it less often. Hmmmm!

For the relaxers....I meant the people who relax the front half and then wash and then relax the back half.

Faith, for the relaxing, I only did it once, but I parted my hair right above my ears (ear-to-ear) and did the front first. The trick for me was rinsing the front out and neutralizing in the kitchen sink. I was only able to do this because I had a sink sprayer in my kitchen sink, you know, the hose, so I could direct the water exactly where I wanted it. It worked. I then proceeded to work on the back, which was still dry. Let me also add, that I was not directing the hose, but my husband. I personally need someone to direct the water if I am going to do the half/half method. As for bone combs, I find that I use my fine-toothed one the most. I have a wide-toothed one which I don't use as much, because I have an even wider-toothed comb that is not seamless, but that does a great job on my hair. For me, I see t he benefits, but I am not going to rave just yet. My super wide-toothed comb is dong a far better job than my bone comb right now. S-curl did make my ends stick together. I certainly do not comb my hair after s-curl or any other sticky treatment has been applied for this very reason. HTH

I love my bone combs! They really make a diffference with my hair, and I also have horn combs they are wonderful too! With the bone comb I'm able to comb thru my hair with out any broken off hair and with my horn comb I get even better results because it deposit minerals on my scalp and it runs right thru my thick type 4a hair without any drag. I combed thru 3 inches of new growth (dry) with only 3 pieces of hair (long strands with white bulbs on tip) came out. I think that bone combs are worth the investment.

Ok Alli, I'll bite...what are horn combs and where do I get one? (Dang, I'm back to my junkie ways)

The horn combs are great but expensive! I got mine for $45 US dollars from a Canadian site. I saved up and treated myself to that. If money is tight then I suggest a bone comb, I ordered mine from tenderheaded.com, but you can get if from other sites like hairsense.com that sell very affordable bone combs.
