For those who use it to dry their hair, would someone explain the process? How is it done? I've read posts with ladies referring to it.

Thank you.:)

Basically, after washing and detangling, i comb my hair back and tie down with a scarf. the idea is to smooth down the edges (v. useful when i'm stretching) as it's air drying. i tend to leave my hair down but i think some ladies put the hair back in a ponytail and then tie with a scarf.

Hope that helps.

I saw in sylver's fotki a method where she moisturized wet hair, part in two and loosely bantu-knotted both sides, then put on scarf, then went under dryer for 30min. then undid bantu knots, put more moisturizer, went back under dryer for 40min. I plan to try this during my 4-month stretch.

I do a modified version of Sylver2 scarf method. After washing, I apply leave ins and oils and part in middle front and let hair air dry hanging loose on my back. When hair is about 70% dry (still a little damp), I apply bit more oil or serum and put one large magnetic roller low in the back. Then I tie down snug with satin scarf and let hair dry completely before removing scarf. My edges are super straight and the roller makes my ends smooth and slightly curled. Zero heat, and minimal manipulation . . .

bumping for me...first time using sylvers method (instead of the basic co-wash ponytail and tie down with a scarf) i want to try using the bantu knots or rollers to give my ponytail more sleekness and not curly

I've never heard of the scarf method other than on this board. But whenever I airdry my hair I put a scarf over my entire head not just the edges and my hair dries soft. I put on my moisturizer pin my hair up then put a scarf over my whole head and I never have the dryness or crunchiness from airdrying that other people complain about on this board. Some of those people say they use the "scarf method". I never could figure out why it didn't work for others now that I know what the "scarf method" is I see why it didn't do a thing for their crunchiness when airdrying.

I have been doing it my way for years long before the hairboards or even the internet:lol:. Never had a problem airdrying.

Totally agree with your whole post. My hair would revolt and walk off my head if I left it hanging down to air dry. My definition of scarf dry= leave ins, a little gel,2 buns, and a scarf over everything. While the cuticles are not going to be as flat or smooth as a blow dry, I am amazed that my hair come as good as it does.

thank you so much...i tried it and it definitely worked.....wen i cowashed before....i would comb my hair in the shower into a ponytail (damaging) and put the scarf on after my leave-ins and my ponytail would be really curly - ending in crunchy hair.

Applying 3 drops of oil and bantu knots or rollers keeps my ends more straighter. this makes my phony pony, baggy method, overall appearance better to manage.

I think not putting my ends in a bantu or rollers does more damage than good. THANK YOU LADIES & Sylver
