Were these tests done independently? I haven't really looked into it, but I'm curious. I've been in salons where they don't regulate their inventory either and like MizAvalon said, have dusty products on the shelves. I've purchased old Aveda before from an authorized salonNope. I still won't buy salon brands from target or the like.
Target, cvs etc even sell them for the same price or more that salons do anyways. Some of these products sold on the gray market have been tested and have been found to be expired, diluted etc. They are not regulated the way that salon inventory is.
These products are brought from the "gray market" - meaning that is is hard for companies to prosecute stores because the laws are very vague in this area. Its is unethical but not exactly illegal what they are doing.
Besides the whole point of splurging on salon products is for quality... If i'm going to fork out $20 dollars on a DC then I would rather go straight to a licensed dealer instead of running the risk of buying a dodgy product.
It is just preference and what you feel comfortable with at the end of the day.
Hmm good question. I'm not sure if the tests were done independently. I will try and find the article. Were these tests done independently? I haven't really looked into it, but I'm curious. I'll just stick with Trade Secret and the like if for no other reason than the guarantee is null and void if not purchased from a salon, but this topic makes one think...
