Healthy Hair Quest..
Hey ladies!

I'm currently about 43+ weeks post relaxer.(losing count... :) )

I'm looking for a product that would leave my newgrowth smooth but not super straight. When I was relaxing and rollersetting 13 week post relaxer hair, it always came out crinkly and hard at the roots using Motions or a creamy leave-in.... :(

I know that Kitchen_tician and some others use Paul Mitchell's Foaming Pomade, I'm just wondering if any naturals/transitioners have used it with smooth, shiny results.

I'm open for suggestions and testimonials as well.

What do ya'll think? Should I apply some sort of straightening serum before rolling? If so, what do you guys suggest?

I thought of doing a 60-75% blowdry then apply product, roll pulling the roller taunt then sit under the dryer. ... :whyme:

 43 weeks??? Wow! That's great. I use Aphogee Mousse for relaxed hair with the Aphogee leave-in, and it works fine, but I'm only 9 weeks post.

43 weeks, wow:eek: . I don't have any recs just wanted to add my comment b/c I've decided to try and stretch 10 weeks. I should be getting advice from you.:p

Congrats onep!!! 43 weeks is HIGHLY commendable...

I don't particularly care for mousse and other "styling" products, but I love Giovanni Direct for my rollersets. It leaves the hair soft & shiny instead of crunchy & stiff like other styling agents.

I can't speak on the foaming pomade, but Vonte' makes a product works really well with any kind of heat...lemme come up with the name and get back to ya.

Paul Mitchell Foaming Pommade is good, the only thing is for me it seems like my hair seems dry a few days later. I can only assume that it might be from the petroleum (petrolatum) that is one of the ingredients in it.

The first day or two its on hit though.

Aahhh...okay, now we are getting somewhere. Petroleum leaves my hair that way too....I really want a soft and bouncy rollerset. Thanks for that review...

I've been corresponding with KT(we're hair cousins) and she says she also uses KeraCare's Foaming Setting Lotion. I may go with that and see what happens.

DivinieI, where can I get some of the Giovanni Direct? Sally's? Asian BSS? If they have a sample packet I'll try that too.

I'll keep searching until I find the right product.

Thanks ladies..

Onepraying,

When you try the Keracare Foaming Setting lotion be sure to give us a review. I have been thinking about trying it since I no longer like their regular setting lotion.

I have some of their small sample bottles that I use when I travel or if someone asks what leave-in I use. If you want one, I'll send it to ya b/c I'm not using them. I just bought them b/c not all of the WFM have them, so when I saw them, I bought 10 of them. I have a habit of stockin up on things, and then being the Hair Fairy Godmother! :lachen:
But seriously, if you PM me your address, I'll shoot you some so you can check it out.

Divine Inspiration - which Giovanni product do you use? Is it the VitaproFusion Leav-In Hair Treatment or the Direct Leave-In Conditioner? What do you like about it? Thanks!

Me too! You are too sweet, thank you!

Hi OP, I decided to post part of our pm.

As fas as Paul Mitchell, it's very, oily. So oily to the point where you may want to dilute it with water in a spray bottle. With Paul Mitchell, I don't use oil until after I'm finished rollersetting and combed out to see if I need it or not. Don't apply any oil prior to rollersetting, because it may be too much. It's a milky white consistency, but not thick.

As far as Kera Care's foaming setting lotion (pump bottle), I don't see a major diff between this and other setting lotions. It leaves your hair feeling soft and bouncy with nice hold. No stiffness or crunchy-ness at all. I've used it for many, many years.

I allowed my hair to airdry for about 14 hours.

Oh yeah, congrats on the 43 weeks!!! :weird: I stopped counting weeks, it's too much to keep up with. You're about 10 months post.
