Everyone says you can do it, but no one actually does. I am going to get human hair braids in a few weeks. What I wanted to do was get the human hair braids done professionally and then spot retouch as needed using the same piece of hair. I have mastered braiding, but not measuring the hair and parting so I can't do my whole head at one time. Do you think I could pull that off for more than two months?

heck yeah girl....if you can braid u can reuse the same hair. i used to do that, all the time when i used to braid myown hair, no problem....if i wanted a fresher look i would buy one pack of hair and use that for a redo...but becareful of breakedge around your edges.....

yes you can do it just make sure when you take out the hair you kinda detangle while you're taking the braid out and dont let it knot up. My roomate did this all the time when she was redoing her edges and sides because the human hair was like $20.00 a pack

Good to hear. How long can I safely do this? I bought mine from a hair distributor and it was $130 for 8 ounces. I'm going to get more than one use out of it some kind of way goshdarnit, even if I have to knit it into a sweater and wear it!

I guess as long as you dont get considerable breakage. But i heard its not good to go more than two and a half months cuz the hair knots and gets matted. Have you ever visited Robin woods site called growafrohairlong.com i think it gives you great advice for braids while trying to grow your hair. The lady that runs the website has absoulely gorgeous waist length hair. If you havent yet, check it out!

My cousin reused the same hair for about 3 years...and her hair always looked great. When she takes it out she washes and conditions it.. lets it dry then rebraids her hair. She added an once or two here an there.. but the bulk of the hair was the same ol hair. So yes.. you can certainly reuse human hair.

I reuse my hair- it's just too expensive to toss it. I've been using the same hair for a few years, there is some newer hair, as I change the color or length, but I never buy more than 2 packs of hair if I change, since I stick with basically the same style.

I normally throw the hair out, but I think I am gonna start keeping it and reusing it. I need to save money.

i cant bring myself to re-use the hair, its expensive, but not so expensive that i cant buy 2 more packs. but more power to you

i agree with all of the ladies you can re-use the hair( the good kind though)..i just got a touch-up and my braider re-used some of the hair and blended it with the new 2 ounces of hair i bought... i pay about $140 for my 8 ounces of hair so i am def gonna re-use at least 1/2 of it...plus u can not tell the dif either...like someone mentioned above..if you wash..and condition the hair..it is like brand new...so go for it girl

I am a veteran at reusing my human hair. Since I wear my braids 24/7 and retouch them as need be, wearing the same piece for a year+ is nothing out of the ordinary for me.

Nonie, I want to follow your braid regimen.

It sounds like the perfect plan for me because I never have time to get my hair redone. I always plan to leave braids in my hair for six months or so, but it never happens because I can't always take a whole day off to get my hair done. If I spot retouch myself it might just work.

Thanks for giving me that idea!
