She said when your scalp starts to burn then drink about 8 ounces of cold water. It alleviates the pain that you feel. It doesn't get rid of the pain but it dillutes the pain.

I guess I will find out tonight.

sounds good but my problem is if its burning its doing damage i want it off my head asap!!!

I did have a stylist make me drink cold water before, b/c my head was so hot and she said it would process faster, so I'm guessing that is where the tip sorta comes in....that said, if its burning, its time to come out, no time to waste trying to lower your body temperature.

If your scalp starts burning during a chemical application, you should rinse it out because you are at that point damaging your scalp.

Ummm....poor that 8 ounces of cold water on your head to get the relaxer out. The scabs and your hair falling out where the scabs are, arent worth it. :ohwell:

Exactly. I've never heard anything about drinking cold water to dilute the pain. I know I wouldn't even think of trying it. :nono:

Are you serious?

If you're concerned about burning, why don't you just base your scalp real good?

You know, I guess I had one of those stylist that believed that the relaxer isn't done it's job until it burns.

You know the funniest thing, about 10 years ago I had an hairdresser that would pour seabreeze over the scalp and rinse to keep from the scabing. This is of course after washing out the relaxer, before conditioning. It works and I never had any damage problems. But of course this was years ago, my current hairdresser will take ORS rep. pak and rub on burn area after one wash and let me set for a few minutes and rinse then she will continue washing and conditioning and no scabs.

Something just seems so wrong about a PROFESSIONAL telling you to let the stuff burn your scalp! I think I'd find a new stylist if she suggested I should just let my hair burn! How about use a sensitive scalp or base me good!

My days of being burned by relaxers are LONG over.
