OMG!!!! THE WORST AND MOST PAINFUL TOUCHUP IN MY LIFE!!!!!

[ QUOTE ]
once had a beautician chop (yes, chop) off a piece of my hair in the back raising my hair length to neck level because I was taking too long deciding whether or not to get my hair cut. He then replied, "It's too late now!"

/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /images/graemlins/ill.gif Lord Jesus! What is wrong with these people??!!

Azul, I'm so sorry you were hairjacked. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

sorry this happened to you. /images/graemlins/kiss.gif i know excactly what your going through with the pain. it feels like your scalp is on fire. and every water touches it( e.g neutrilizing and conditioning) hurts even more.

In all seriousness, Azul, I am so sorry that happened to you. That stylist needs to be held accountable for what she did. Chemical mutilation is serious. I had a stylist leave some relaxer on the back of my head after "rinsing" and stuck me under the dryer. I told him to take it out, and he never got my money again!

This was years ago. I honestly, think he was high. He was a friend of the family, so I felt that pimp slapping him might leave a negative impression. With my hair "Homey don't play that"

What state do you live in? Are there any on this board that can refer a competent stylist in your city?

I'm so sorry that happened to you sweety...this is why I refuse to go to the shop...I had one bad experience and that was it...if I can't do it, I won't get done to my hair...I can do badly on my own without paying somebody too!

Oh my, that is horrible. I really hope things get better /images/graemlins/kiss.gif

Azul, you're in NYC. Why don't you look up Marcia? I know Brownrelaxedhair and quite a few other members go to her. I don't know how far her salon is from you, but if I lived within a 100 miles of her when my hair was relaxed I would have been there in a heartbeat.

Never mind--I just searched and read your posts about Marcia.

So sorry this happened to you sweetie. I am now CONVINCED that it takes no kind of intelligence or skill at all to get a license to do hair. What else could the explanation be for ALMOST ALL stylists, especially black ones, being so incompetent?

Sorry about your experience, that's why i plan to self relax,,,i'd rather take my chances doing my own hair rather allowing some incompenent so called professional to take chances with my hair.

This is how I'm starting to feel! How low do the standards gotta be when I do a better job of relaxing my own hair from just reading the darn directions!

OMG! Going to a unknown stylist is russian roulette. It's just too big of a risk to let some stuipd a$$ ruin months and months of hard work. I hope your scalp is feeling better as well as your spirits.

Perhaps you would have been better off doing it at home. I say hair independence is the only way to insure it's going to be healthy, unless you can find a stylist you really trust.

Good luck to you.

I am super sorry to hear of your troubles, babe (((hugs)))). Lick your wounds and do whatever's necessary to prevent it from happening again. I hope you soon find someone that will make relaxing a pain-free expereince for you.

This is just my opinion but I would sue. I would document what she did to my hair and take her to court. I've seen it many times on t.v. and the plaintiff always win. I'm sorry this has happened to you, but I don't know what to say to help your hair grow back in those patches where it fell out since I believe that area is sensitive now and you might not want to manipulate it that much.

No tea tree oil on your scalp evah!!!! It will burn the dickens out of you you hear me?

Aloe vera gel is excellent. It's very soothing and has great healing properties. Is your whole scalp irritated/burned or is it just in spots? Apply it twice a day.

In the meantime you may see that your scalp will begin to form scabs. DO NOT PICK AT THEM as this can result in your hair being embedded in the scabs yanno? It will fall out on it's own when you wash your hair.

I'm sooo soo sorry this happened to you /images/graemlins/kiss.gif. Baby your hair and scalp ok and try not to touch it so much.

Now where's that ***** /images/graemlins/whip.gif

I am so sorry this happened to you. Sometimes life can feel like this /images/graemlins/drowning.gif

Ok. Now I'm more convinced than ever that I need to go to cosmetology school for the next phase of my life. I've been considering that, massage therapy or becoming a personal trainer. It will be a couple years before I go, but I think I have decided. This is madness! We need people out here who can do right by natural and relaxed hair.

I'm sorry this happened. I feel your pain. Jacked beauticians are the main reason I went natural, especially after my hair was jacked ON MY WEDDING DAY!!!!!!! Anywho. Take care and heal.

Aww, Azul11. It breaks my heart to hear this. I am so sorry. And I agree w/Megonw- the chick seems to have realized what she did when she asked you to follow up w/a phone call about your hair... /images/graemlins/whip.gif

I say start practicing now on how to relax your own hair. Like others have offered in previous threads, you can practice w/conditioner, but I would be DETERMINED after something like this to cut the umbilical cord to wary, unprofessional stylists and DO MY OWN 'FRO. That's what it took for me to finally take my hair's destiny into my own hands. It's not hard at all.

Again, I'm so sorry and I can totally relate. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I;m so sorry this happened to you. Try some A and D ointment. It soothes and moisurizes your scalp. Its wonderful and not very expensive. Next, Call the State Board on her and file a complaint! Also, If she doesn not own the salon, call and complain to her boss or whoever she rents space from. Go to a dermatologist and sue her for your money back and compesation. She sounds like a natural idiot and she needs to know she can't do this to people!

I'm speechless but in total agreement with the other ladies about what you should do. Start by using aloe vera every day on your scalp and once you've completely healed then try surge.

As for her, I would suggest you call her back and tell her you want to sue because of the pain and damage inflicted. I too would suggest learning to self relax. It is not as hard to do as many think and you can choose your own products.

Feel better, ok?

I'm so so sorry that this happened to you, Azul. I have horror stories of my own, so I know the physical and emotional pain that you are going through right now. That's why I'm my own beautician!!

It may not seem like it now, but it will get better, I promise! /images/graemlins/kiss.gif

I'm really sorry this happened to you again Azul. Honestly, I understand you have trouble speaking up for yourself, but if you don't think you can manage it, maybe it's better not to relax at all or (as you seemed commited to a few weeks ago) to start relaxing yourself.

Chemical applications are nothing to play with. If you can't speak up (even though I understand why that's hard for you), you shouldn't go to hairdressers. I mean, you spoke up when it came to the money - why not your hair and scalp??? It seems to me like it's not the hairdressers that are the problem, it's the fact that you won't stand up for yourself, because it keeps happening!

That said, try not to worry too too much, becuase I don't think your hair is permanently damaged. Your scalp should be fine in a few days, and in the future, I think you're just going to have to think very hard about what you're going to do about relaxing, because you can't keep doing this to yourself. /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

Azul, I'm truly sorry about this. I recently had a poor touch up experience myself, which resulted in my hairline being overprocessed. Faith suggested Vitamin E on the burned areas. Give it a try.

I agree that given the experience of many board members, that many stylists are imcompetent, but this post alone shows that it's not race-specific. The idiot stylist in question here is Dominican /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

Anyway, azul, I'm really sorry to hear that this happened to you. I hope that your scalp feels better and you find a good stylist that knows what she's doing or that you figure out how to successfully do your own chemical services /images/graemlins/kiss.gif

Gosh, I'm really sorry. You should go back in immediately and show them your spots. Get your money back and don't go there again. I know that doesn't make it all better but it's a start.

I think almost every woman on this board has gone through some kind of mightmarish relaxer experience. I know I have.
WTF. For a service we are paying good money for, why is it that we have to be so on guard when it comes to getting good service when that should be a given!
I for one am tired of praying the night before a relaxer that I won't be bald the next day.
Someone needs to wake these "stylists" up so they don't get away with this crap anymore. I mean for god sakes if you go to get your shirt tailored and they mess it up, they have to reimburse you but someone d**m near burns a hole in your scalp and all they say is come back in two weeks.
I'm sorry this really infuriates me. And this just makes it harder for those good stylists out there who know their stuff.
Ok i'm getting off my soapbox.
Azul, I am soo sorry for what happened! I would seriously consider doing self relaxing from now on, or get a friend to do it, you can tell her exactly what you want and she will actually care. In the meantime, i agree with whoever suggested putting a lot of oil on the areas, to help prevent dryness and hardening. Good luck.

/images/graemlins/rosebud.gif I'm so sorry for you. This has happened to me before. In fact, I'm going to try a new stylist on Lenox Ave this weekend. My stylist, who has been doing a fairly good job, just takes too many liberties.

I'll let you know if this new place is any good. In the meantime, be as gentle as you can with your hair, use deep conditioners and I'll be praying for you.
