Do any of you not use any reconstructors and only use moisturizing dcs with a little bit of protein? If you do use reconstructors, how often? Please respond with whether you use lye or no lye. Thanks for any responses.

eta: I'm considering reconstructors to conditioners like keraphix, cpr or anything with protein.

I use Motions CPR Reconstructor during my texlaxing process only, because my hair doesn't like protein between touchups. After I rinse out the relaxer creme, I apply the reconstructor and let sit for 5 minutes, rinse, then neutralize.

I only use affirm 5 in 1 reconstructor after the affirm lye is rinsed out.
I was warned by family friend/stylist who knows my hair not to use reconstuctors any other time unless my hair is damaged. When I have, my hair gets hard and dry and protein overload is no joke.

Hi, I use reconstuctors only when needed, like if my hair feels "mushy" in the shower or if I've damaged it with too much heat and it's breaking. I use Mizani Lye relaxer. I use Joico K-Pac reconstructor and conditioner, Kera Care Humecto, Shescentit.com banana brulee condtioner and I just recently started using the pantene mask:yep:

do you use lye or no lye. Also, what conditioners do you use otherwise. tia

I use Revlon Realistic Regular Lye relaxer.

The only time I do a moisturizing DC (Motions Moisture Plus) is at touchup time, every 8-10 weeks, following my color rinse, which contains protein. Otherwise, I just cowash once per week with VO5 or Suave conditioners. I do a lot of wet-bunning to give my hair plenty of moisture, so I don't see the need for regular DCs.

I use Hawaiian Silky No lye No Mix relaxer. When I put in my relaxer or get my hair colored, I will use a reconstructor. When I get a relaxer I use Optimum Reconstructor when I get my permanent hair color I use Biosilk (that is just what my beautician uses).

Nope, I don't use them (I don't think :perplexed Reconstructors are different from protein conditioners, right? ) I relax with no lye

im lye....bone straight. I use a reconstructor day of relaxer, then again for my second wash post touchup...then once again when im around 12 weeks.

I use Aphogee 2 min reconstructor the week before I relax and then I use it again during the relaxing process, specifically after I rinse the relaxer out. I use Mizani Butter Blend lye relaxer. Before I started using MT, I DC's with ORS Mayo or Replenishing conditioner. Now I use Pantene R&N Mask.

I use (APHOGEE HARD- PROTEIN,SILK PROTEIN)reconstruct not strong enough for me.sometimes i try tha reconstruct by AUSSIE every now then.

I use ORS lye to relax. Then I rinse and apply Motions Silk Protein. After that, I neutralize, then use a deep conditioner. (pantene breakage defense mask or sitrinillah)

Me too.

Sandyrabbit, I use lithium no lye and I use a reconstuctor during the relaxer process. Then whenever my hair feels mushy, I use a reconstructor for 3-5 minutes in the shower and then follow it with a moisturizing treatment for 15-30 minutes.

my hair loves protein, so i use reconstructors fairly often (1x or 2x a week or so... and not to be mistaken with hardcore protein), and don't go out of my way to avoid protein. the only time i'll try and stay away from it is the first week or so after a relaxer.

BTW, i use Hawaiian Silky Lye relaxer, exclusively, and i enjoy aphogee's 2 min. reconstructor, and joico's kpak reconstructor. (and sally's GVP knockoff is really good, too!!)

Hey Sandyrabbit,

I use a no-lye relaxer (ORS); after I rinse my relaxer out I put on some Ion Reconstructor Treatment for a couple of minutes and then I proceed with neutralizing. I do a hardcore Appogee treatment the week before my relaxer and at 6 weeks post. I also use the Ion Reconstructor mixed with conditioner as a prepoo whenever I need a protein boost. I do a lot of deep conditioning so I like to throw so protein out there just in case.

I use Lye, and just recently started using a reconstructor (Joico's K-Pak). As of late, my conditioners of choice are one of my Giovanni conditioners or Elucence MB.

Sorry sandyrabbit, I'm just now seeing your question :smirk:

I've never stuck with one relaxe (always trying to find something better) I've used Silk Elements twice. A record for me :perplexed

My two main conditioners of the moment are my beloved Kenra MC and Nature's Therapy Mega Moisture. I think I'm gonna add Hair One to the mix too :D

I like CPR and Keraphix, but CPR is less expensive and just as good to me :yep:
But, I do focus on and use more moisture DCs.

I'm not big on reconstructors but I used KPak the other night and it made my hair really strong. I usually use highly moisturizing conditioners like Joico Hydrator and Trader Joe's Nourish Spa...sometimes I mix those together. I also use lye relaxers.
