I'm 7 weeks post and when I cowashed today, I could feel a few more crinkles of newgrowth coming in. But, I still feel like I have a long way to go before I feel like I should relax.

I think when I get around 14 weeks or so I feel like I'm entering full on stretch mode.

What about you?

I'm going on 11 weeks and things have gotten serious! I plan to relax it the monday before Christmas.

Definitely from 9 weeks my hair begins to struggle, this time around I relaxed at 13 weeks post and that was a mistake, I should have relaxed at 12 weeks. I will no longer stretch for the sake of stretching.

At 7 weeks my new growth gets real which means I have to up my moisture game by moisturizing my new growth daily. I stretch to 18 weeks but at week 9 I will blow dry, flat iron and trim. It always nice to feel my scalp halfway through.

My hair is easy to manage up to around 12-13 weeks. Then when I get to 14 weeks post, my hair get more challenging to detangle.

Anything after 16 weeks.

The only time I would relax at 8 week mark was when I had Halle Berry / Nia Long pixie cuts otherwise I'd adjust styles as new growth came in until it was enough.

My hair is extremely easy to manage until about 10 weeks post. Anything after 12-13 weeks though and she starts threatening to end our relationship.

That's a good question. I guess it'll feel like I'm stretching when I can no longer touch my scalp and have to use more than 4 sections to detangle. I was natural for 4 years and texlaxed for a couple of months and it always felt like I was stretching. I couldn't keep up with the demand my scalp and hair wanted while I was natural and even texlaxed. I'm glad I relaxed a bit straighter. I feel that my hair is happy now.

I have to be able to dig my fingers into my new growth to feel like I'm stretching - when I get that 'hat' effect. I've never relaxed earlier than 14-16 weeks so to me stretching is 18+. I'm just ending a stretch at 25 weeks, trying to go for a full 6 months next time so I only relax twice in 2015.

Very interesting Bell Curve forming with the poll ladies! :yep:

It's amazing how relatively easy my hair is until the 12-14 week range like a lot of those who voted.

I wonder what it is about that part of the relaxer stretch???

sunnieb, my theory: the line of demarcation becomes weaker with the presence of increased new growth, thus requiring a change up of techniques.

At 11 weeks Im officially stretching but I have gone as far as 16. I need to stick to between 11 and 13 for max retention though

I LOVE this HHJ!!

I'm 9 weeks post today and my my newgrowth is trying to act up. It almost feels like I'm 14 weeks post. Shrinkage is more noticeable as my hair doesn't hang past BSL anymore. Feel like I'm having to enter stretch mode too early.

I wasn't paying attention to it last week. I did a honey treatment and cowash, but no dc. I'm conditioning now with Nexxus Humectress. Hope my hair gets back into shape.

Pics today with my hair dry and wet:

10 weeks post now. I can see some of my curly newgrowth slowly wrapping around my previously relaxed hair.

Regular deep conditioning is a must to keep these two textures happy and detangled!

I think I stretched once for about 12-14 weeks. I am going on 8 weeks now and counting. I will stretch for as long as I could now, because I had a set back because I got my touch ups done between 6-8 weeks. Too soon I know. :nono: I learned my lesson, no more. I will be stretching this out as long as I can.

After 6 months. The longest I've gone is a year. I was supposed touch up a month ago, which means I've stretched this time around 7 months. It is time.

My hair used to start to revolt around 12-14 weeks. I did my first 6 month stretch last year out of laziness, but it didn't end so well. As I stated, I was being lazy and was very depressed and suddenly my hair wasn't a priority. I was having lots of trouble detangling and always ended up with a head full of dreadlocks around 12+ weeks. I would rip through the dreads and as a result, I retained very little hair last year. It was the same length at the end of the year as it was at the beginning :nono:

I discovered my holy grail for detangling. And the other day, I realized I made it to 13 weeks post without even realizing it, that's how much better my hair is. I'm going to probably go to 20 wks this time. This video saved my life!!

For me after 12 weeks (3 months), I do not relax before 12 weeks or 16 weeks for that matter..
