Okay, so I got my redken real control kit today. It came in a really nice box with a stylist information brochure and lots of samples. See pics below....

The only thing not in the pic is the shampoo, I forgot it:look:

Soooo....One to the reviews

First off, I want to say that I can understand why some people don't like this line. I do think that it is gear towards a particular hair type but I do think there is something here for everyone. This line doesn't give your instant softness. Your hair probably won't feel that different when it is wet but this line really shines after your hair is dry.:yep: Even though I didn't feel instant softness while it was wet, my hair feels great now that it is dried. I didn't lose much hair when detangling even though my hair didn't feel soft but it was easy to rollerset it and it seemed to dry quickly and evenly too. My hair seemed to have more control when I took the rollers out. I still have body, my curls were bouncing but it seemed a little different, in a good way. I am going to see if these products are going to help me keep my curl a little longer so I will have to check back in on that next week. I can't decide just yet if I will repurchase this line but the shampoo is a must have for everyone. Also, if you are a heat styler, especially a natural head that straightens, you really might like this line. I flat ironed just my bangs and it was like the heat activated it or something.

I have fine hair. I have alot of it but it is fine. I am relaxed.

The shampoo

This is great shampoo. My hair felt very soft afterwards and it doesn't take alot. It is very concentrated. The smell is nice and it didn't irritate my scalp.

The conditioner and the mask

These are both very thick conditioners. The mask is extremely thick. If I had to compare it to something, I would say it had the consistency of nivea hand cream. The mask gave me more instant softness but both products have a smoothing effect. My hair feels very smooth right now. Smooth but strong. They didn't give me the detangling I was looking for but it was enough.

The leave in cream and thermal mist

Now this leave in is THICK!!!!! I literally used a dime sized amount on my entire head. The thermal mist is really nice. I sprayed this on my whole head after I put the rollers in before I dried it under the dryer.

Overall........

Like I said before, I think there is something here for everyone.

If you have very resistant hair, the hair that doesn't seem to like any conditioner, doesn't hold on to moisture, hard to relax..... This line is worth a second look for you. I think this line is geared towards that type of hair, especially the mask and the leave in cream

If you have finer hair, you might want to look at the shampoo and the mist. Both are great products. The mist won't weigh you down and helps give you a little more body. The leave in cream, even though it is super thick, would be a great daily moisturizer because you literally would only need a dab.

So you liked it? *doing cabbage patch*

I know it's been getting mixed reviews, but my hair adores this stuff.

Oohh, I was just thinking about the mask this morning :look: Wasn't sure if I should order it since I just got some Kenra.

I think I'll treat myself soon.

I told ya, it was good stuff. :yep:

And now it's certified by Gymfreak. :lachen:

I was nervous reviewing this one to be honest. Like I said, I can understand why some people wouldn't like it but I understand what redken was trying to do. That thermal mist stuff is really great. I just got my solia so next week when I try it out, I will be using this line.

thanks for the review and pics as well, i have never tried redken anything but something from their line is on my "to buy" list and this might be it...

I just tried www.thebeautybox.com and all they had was the All Soft Color Extend and Extreme lines

Are they all out of Real Control or something? I wanna try this line so bad!!! Waaaaaaa!

You are so one point with your review Gym. I too have fine relaxed hair (presently 13 weeks post). I just purchased the mask and I used it this evening as well. It really does have a very thick consistency and I was pleased by that alone :lick:. As I applied it, I also noticed that it softened my hair instantly. I used the steam treatment method and was pleased to find that my hair was even softer afterwards. I did find that the mask is not the greatest detangler but the shine and softness were still evident as I did my rollerset. I'm under the dryer now so after reading your review, I'm definitely looking forward to bouncy soft curls too :yep:. Thanks for posting!

I haven't bought anything new in a while...I think I'll go visit this masque at Trade Secret over the weekend. I have thick, resistant curly hair was just wouldn't relax straight when I wore a relaxer.

Thanks for the review gymfreak.

Thanks for the awesome review Gym, my hair is also very fine so I don't think this is the best fit for my hair. I would however like to hear about the Redken All Soft Heavy Cream though:grin:.

I'm only eyeing that Mask and wondering if I would need two of them sukka's for my hair, unless I went light handed which I never do

Girl leave it alone for now, its protein'ish!

Its the softer proteins but I'm thinking any extra might not be so good with using the MT or OCT

Great review, I agree with a lot of what you said. I love the shampoo and conditioner. The leave-in for me I could do without but I do want to try the thermal mist since I straighten often.

Holy crap, this really is a lot of protein, thanks Iris.

I'm so gratedul that you guys know the "signs of protein", lol! I'm still one of those that assume with a name like All Soft that it is pure moisture. I believe I'll keep using this as a leave-in!

yeah really 'All soft' you would think huh?

I felt the protein content in this immediately on the rinse out. When I first bought it years ago I was thinking the same thing with the name, its light but its definitely felt !
