Redken Real Control- My complete review

Thanks for the review....I bought the whole line (PJ) and I love the Shampoo and the Masque. The Conditioner is okay, the thermal protectant does give a lot of body without weighing the hair down. The creme moisturizer is just okay to me...It'll probably take me a year (if I stick with it) to use it all, maybe longer. Gym your review was spot on....I can say I'll definetly repurchase the shampoo/masque.....you see the benefits of these products once the hair is dry.

That's the true test of how a conditioner performs.

gym - your review is captures exactly what I feel about this line. I bought the poo, con, mask... I used it yesterday and I know my stylist was thinking "why this chick keep putting her fingers in her hair?" but I wanted to see how my hair felt. You know this stuff is great once your hair is dry.... My hair is light and blinging right now. This is a keeper. Trade Secrets had the liter size poo and con, 40% off. So I paid about $45 for all three products. This is going to replace my aveda DR line, and it is cheaper too.

ITA ladies, you really see the difference when your hair is dry. Now, a day later, my hair has alot of shine and I haven't added any additional product. Even my SO said that it looked different.

I agree Supergirl. You are the one that got me really thinking about stuff like this. You can't always go on wet hair hype.

So would this line be considered primarily moisturizing or strengthening? I will probably a least try the mist for now because I have been looking for a product like this for heat protection. I am still testing out Aveda DR products.

I would say both.

According to the brochure and from what I have observed, the shampoo and the conditioner are a balance of moisture and protein.
The mask gives more moisture and the thermal mist gives more strengthening effects. The Creme care cream is very moisturizing and gives the hair control.

The mist worked very well when I was rollersetting and when I flat ironed my bangs.

Oh yes ma'am! When you said in your review that you noticed the diff. more so when your hair was dry, you know I made plans to call my local Ulta (saved as a contact in my cell :look:) to see if they'd gotten the line in yet. They haven't. :(

ETA: But Trade Secret does-bye! :driver:

Thank you  I am going to get the mist today and I'll post my results. My hair normally responds well to Redken products.

You can have some of these sample packs.

Today, I was taking down my pins curls and my boyfriend was like what did you spray on your hair, it looks shiney. It was the real control, I haven't put any additional product on my hair.

Now see no fair :nono: I was doing very well controlling the PJism. I am only going to buy the mist not the shampoo and mask, I already have new Aveda stuff. Only the mist, only the mist :look: I must resist the urge:assimilat:

 Try the mist first and see if you can get samples of the other stuff before you buy the whole thing or atleast get through your aveda first

I love Redkin products, especially the All soft line. I always try to purchase them when they are on sale. I purchased the mask and a small sample of the conditioner. I really like the mask, but you are right, it is very thick. I guess I didn't use enough of the conditioner because you are right, it doesn't have enough detangling for me, but I like it anyway. I am going to try that shampoo next.

Thanks for the review because I have thin, fine hair.

i am still thinking if i want to try this line. i still have two redken all soft shampoo and conditoner AND heavy cream that i need to use up.

The mist is really nice! I sprayed my wet hair before blowdrying and I sprayed a little before flatironing my hair. My hair is fluffy and sodt after taking down my pin curls this morning. This is a keeper. i will eventually try the other products.

so I broke down and got this yesterday. :lachen: I actually bought the intensive mask and the Smooth Down Butter Treat. The Butter Treat was okay, not really jumping out of my seat. The Real Control was the shizzzzle!!!

I'm about 6-7 weeks post, 4b hair, so the new growth is not pretty. The beauty supply store was nice and gave me samples of the shampoo and regular conditioner. I used the shampoo, which was amazing. My hair was soft and didn't get matted after rinsing, which it does with most. Nice and moisturizing. I skipped the conditioner since I had the mask. Yes it is $15 (i had a discount card, so I got it for $9), but it takes so little because it's thick so that $15 will last awhile, longer than the ORS Replenishing packs, I feel this is better in an economic sense for me (like how I justify my PJism?). I just did a quickie DC (plastic cap, hoodie over my head, 15 minutes while watching the Hills, no direct heat) and my hair felt great at rinse out. It wasn't luscious soft the way it is after ORS, but it felt nice and healthy. My new growth was manageable. I put it back in a ponytail to air dry and the next morning my hair STILL felt just as soft as last night. It's a keeper!!
