recs for a heat protectant spray?

i literally only saw two in the store?! what do you guys like to use? how about regular hairspray? what do you guys use for that? tahnks!

Hmmm, I purchased Pantene's Heat Protectant spray and used it this weekend when I straightened my hair. But how do you know it really worked? Well, my hair was silky and shiny and didn't dry out. So, I guess that's the test unless anyone can think of something else!

did it keep your hair straight for the day (or for others - did it keep the curl?), oir become limp after a couple hours?

I didn't realize that Pantene had come back out with their heat-protectant spray. It was discontinued previously.

I use Aveda damage control, i like the ingredients and it leaves my hair soft and shiny when I flat iron.

My hair stayed straight and is still straight today - 4 days later. I didn't use very much b/c I didn't want it to make my hair "wet."

I just purchased Mizani's ThermaStrength after reading about it in CurlyBun's journal. I haven't tried it yet though. It's on a discontinue sale at the local Penny's here

I just tried Ion Anti-Frizz Straight Heat Protection from Sally's past weekend. I liked it. I don't have the bottle with me or I'd post the ingredients, but I know it has Vit A and E. It caught my eye on the shelf because it had a picture of a little flatiron on it.

Oh but get this. It was on sale for $4.99 on Saturday. But that's for the bottle labeled Heat Protection. When I went to the front to check out, I looked over at the Ion display - where they have the Ion flatirons, hair dryers etc, and they had more bottles, but these were labled "Thermal Protection", weren't on sale and were priced $6.99. So I figure that Sally's or Ion (or whoever) is phasing out the Heat Protection bottles in favor of the newly named Thermal Protection - even though its the same product. I compared the ingredients.

Sorry for the ramble. Suffice it to say that I loved the way my hair turned out after I flatironed. Nice and soft and shiny and smooth.

I haven't used it for this purpose yet, but the Miracle Repair Treatment by Got2Be Smooth describes its use for pre-straightening/heat protection....I won't be straightening until Christmas though, but this may be another alternative even though "heat protectant" isn't on the front of the bottle...

I use it on both wet and dry, and the bottle says it can be used this way. It gives my hair more sheen when I apply to dry hair prior to flat ironing. HTH...

So do I. My last trim was August 7 and my ends still look pretty even. I flatirion my hair once a week and use this. Here are the ingredients:
Water/Aqua, Dimethicone Copolyol, Dimethicone, Laureth-23, Phenoxyethanol, Polyacrylamide, Fragrance/Parfum, Xylose, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Methylparaben, Laureth-4, PPG-5 Ceteth-20, Oleth-10, Disodium Cocamphodipropionate, Laureth-7, Lecithin, Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Phosphoric Acid, Sodium Citrate, 2-oleamido-1,3-octadecanediol, Xylose, Hydrolyzed Wheat Starch, Ethylparaben, Arginine HCl, Taurine (D1940/3)

These are the ingredients of Aveda damage control:
Water, Aloe barbendesis, chamomile, calendula, camelia olifera, polyquaternium 16, hydrolyzed wheat protein, hydrolyzed wheat starch, cocomidopropyl (coconut derived), hydrogenated castor oil, oryzanol (rice bran) tocopherol (soy), panthenol, polyquartenium 10.

Are you looking to straighten you hair w/it or curl? To hold a curl and protect against heat I use Redken's Spray Starch. It's very good and contains potato starch in addition to other ingredients to protect your hair while styling.

Like I said- I use it to curl, but it can be used for any heat styling. HTH
