I've been in Walmart and Target and can't find a black or blue-black dye that isn't permanent! Any recs?

L'oreal Color Gems in Blue/Black from Sally's. $5. Just used it last week. More black than blue but still very nice. I think I left it on too long but I could see the blue coming up shortly after application.

ETA: it's a demi-permanent.

Clairol Natural Instincts in Midnight is semi-permanent. I like it.

I saw this one and didn't like it on the box - I like my blacks reeeally dark, not neutral. Does the color turn out dark enough on your hair?

If you can get to a BSS they have a lot of blue-black and black rinses. I like Jazzings blue-black rinse in the pink bottle

Clairol Beautiful Collections from the BSS. I used to use Jazzings back in the day. The color was beautiful & shiny, but my hair felt a little dry. It may have been the poor condition of my hair back then, though.

I'd always seen Jazzings, but I always just felt it was "bad" for some reason. I'll have to give it the once-over again tomorrow when I go.

Try Sebastian Colourshines in Black Orchid. You can still find some bottles on the internet.
