I have always taken a multi and b complex. I recently since joining LHCF added MSM, Biotin, flaxseed, garlic and horsetail from time to time. I have always had SL to APL and believe that the every 6 week trims kept me from having BSL or longer hair. My hair is now thicker and shinier wondering is it all the extra care that I'm taking and am I wasting my money on all of the supplements? Anybody getting good growth without them. (Ok now I'm rambling) but I could be spending that money on other hair products!http://ezinearticles.com/?3-Ways-to-Grow-Hair-Faster-That-Dont-Work&id=1888863

Hmm, I don't know. Seems like they were looking directly on this board in terms of the MSM and Biotin, lol.

I don't know. Maybe this stuff works, maybe it doesn't. I'm sure the extra protein, which is what Biotin is, helps to make the hair grow longer.

Yea it did didn't it! I just don't want to continue spending money on unnecessary supplements. Then, I'm afraid to stop and cause a set back (catch 22)

dont know if i trust that article for one reason and one reason only.

it compared MSM to water stating "water is found in most living things... blah blah blah... but it wont grow your hair"

i beg to differ. water can and will grow your hair. so if they're wrong about that, who's to say they're right about anything else.

just my few cents lol

I am taking vitamins with both Biotin and MSM for over a year and I feel that I can attribute my positive results to the supplements (amongst other things) ...

I would consider the source on this one...I didn't see any credentials for the author (i.e. Dr. in front of his name or MD behind it) - and I don't know how much stock I would put into "ezinearticles"...

I would go with whatever works for you...it certainly can't hurt that you are taking the supplements.

I was taking msm & biotin and I don't know if it was working on head but I know it was working on my body hair causing me to be a hairy beast w/ acne:lachen:. I had to stop but my hair still, just maybe not as fast b/c I don't measure my hair.

You know what? You're absolutely right Sqzbly! I'm gone keep doing what I've been doing. Look at me, not even 3 months in and already discouraged. Sorry ladies.

Really? Didn't know this......

There is nothing to be sorry about!!!

It normally takes around 3 months to see results from supplements - you are taking some good ones...I would also stretch out the trims (I was like you getting trims every six weeks) I now get them every other relaxer and I also got someone else trimming my hair too (big difference)

Ezine Articles are used to kind of like promotion for your websites. You submit an article for basically anything and they post it so you get more linkage to your site and by default more traffic. The blog that it links to is about health, hair, etc. I would take it with a grain of salt.

^^^ITA, i once read one of their articles that said you must trim every six weeks to promote hair growth! No one proofs these articles or checks the credentials of those who are posting so I give no credence to anything that they say. I figure someone truly credible would have no problem getting published in a "real" trade publication.

I never pay attention to article that say vitamins/supplements don't work. For me, the evidence that vitamins/supplements work in pregnant women. Pregnant women who take vitamins have healthier babies, so, IMO, that's evidence that these do what they say they do; they work to provide nourishment to your body just like prenatal vitamins provide nourishment to unborn babies.

The only relevant point is about the deficiencies. I think people with a healthier diet overall will see less of a benefit from taking extra supplements.

Exactly. It's used by all sorts of online marketers. I wouldn't trust it.
