Re: ~*~*Break Out Your Castor Oil - 2010 Edition Cycle 2~*~*

I am in. I was just thinking about this the other day and I was gonna be mad if I missed out on this. Looks like I have 7 more days to submit a photo. I need to find my photo from last cycle or take a new one. Anyways Can't wait!

I will be using Lavender JBCO twice a week on my scalp. I will mix mines with another oil Probably EVOO.

I really need to figure some things out in order to do my best in this challenge...

I am BSL 4B natural and I wear my hair flat ironed 90% of the time. I can't control all of this hair!!!!! That's the main reason why I only wash every other week. (not happy with that, but spending ALL day on sundays doing my hair is not ideal)

Any other 4B naturals have any suggestions????

i agree with ms.blue's response just use the castor oil lightly.

I used it on wash days only, which was two to three times a week. Maybe you could use it the night before you wash.

I'm in agony right now. Long story short, I knocked over my 16 ounce bottle of Castor oil...Insert Virtual Tears...I have about 2 ounces of my bottle left. This sucks!! I was not planning on reordering anything until the Fall...Oh well, I've gotta have it...

Note to everyone: ALWAYS PUT THE TOP/CAP BACK ON!!!

Sidenote: It is hard as hell to clean a humongous puddle of Castor Oil off of the floor.

:bighug: I know how you feel. That happened with me and my CHI silk infusium. :nono: Go to sallys and get you an applicator bottle. It makes it eaiser to apply to scalp, AND not more accident spills.

I just finished putting JBCO on my scalp. By the way I'm in box braids until next month. I will be using JBCO 3 days a week. I have poured some in an applicator bottle for easy application.

Checking in ladies, I use an applicator bottle also. I mix my castor oil with jojoba oil though, is that fine? Also I'm in yarn braids and I'm applying it 3-4 days a week because my scalp is VERY dry and it just feels good. lol But I'll see if buildup occurs in like a week or so.

I'm in ....probably last...But I'm in....Start Pic attached....Am I BSB or BSB yet? I took this pic right before I got my braids I'm currently wearing in....4/30/2010....In that pic my hair is soaking wet, freshly washed and conditioned....I am a 4AB/3C(nape area only) mix.....

Braids are coming out in 1 week. I have been doing the unrefined, cold pressed castor oil for about 4-5 days now everyday. When the braids come out I'll be using it on my scalp regularly-like 2 times/day lightly! I also look forward to learning other ways to use it....

Checking in:

I forgot to mention how I'd be using my castor oil. It's going to be pretty much the same way as last time, oiling my scalp 2x's per week using my castor oil mix, which consists of 50% OKAY unrefined castor oil, 30% Coconut Oil, and 20% Avocado Oil :lick:. Since it's so hot I'm going to be washing twice a week; one regular wash (that includes a deep conditioning treatment), and one co-wash. I will be oiling my scalp on wash days.

Ok I just updated the list if I forgot anybody let me know. I've pulled some info from the last challenge to assist with this one. If anyone would like to add any more info feel free.

Great Tutotial on Applying CO

A Tip for Applying Your Castor Oil

Use an applicator bottle with a fine tip, this way you can apply the oil directly to your scalp. A fine tip bottle allows a controlled amout of oil to the scalp. A bottle like this also allows you to mix your oil and apply it to your scalp.

^^You can purchase an applicator bottle like this one at sally beauty or at any local BSS ususally costs $ 0.99 - $2.00

Not all applicator bottles are best.

^^ Ensure that your bottle has a fine tip, the applicator bottles that look like this the tip is to large for oil application which allows for too much oil to seep out and results in an oily messy application.

I definitely want to join this challenge. I've been using it for a wk or so now and it has made may hair soft as cotton.

But I have to use it like every night bc my scalp seems to eat up the oil. But it's doing my hair and scalp good!

The first 2 pics are when I cut off my texlax ends and the last two are with the texlaxed ends

I am DC'ing right now.... I've added my JBCO to the mix. I guess this can count for 3 uses in a week???

So far so good. I will say that I have been experiencing some scalp itching (I think I read that some in the first edition experienced this as well) any ladies feeling this?

Also has anyone seen any change in the amount of shedding they have since incorporating JBCO???

I don't use JBCO, but I use unrefined castor oil that has a very dark color and a strong smell, so I guess that's gotta count for something . Anyway, yeah I notice strong tingling, and even irritated itching when I use the pure castor oil. I dilute it now using 50% castor oil and 50% of my other two oils and the itching is far less severe. Now it's a mild tingle that I find pleasant :yep:.

I'm in. This is my first challenge. Question: Since I started using castor oil, I noticed little sores in my head - is this a castor oil reaction?

Hello and welcome! I have never heard of or experienced this, are you itching your scalp? Maybe you should try mixing your CO w/ another oil and if this persists then I would recommend you discontinue using the CO.

do y'all use the castor oil on your scalp, on the whole hair or just on your ends
i would like to use it on my whole hair but i may run out of it and i cannot find any shops that sell it here in Scotland so i have to make use of my tiny bottle meaning i only apply to ends

I lightly use co on my scalp b/c I sweat a lot from my scalp and I mostly use to seal after I either wash or co-wash. You could try mixing it w/ another oil to make it last.

I'm in, will ETA pics later. (My first official challenge)>>>>Yikes!

What length am I?

For hair growth purposes for this challenge we are using it on our scalp 2x's a week minimum. You are not limited to using it on your scalp though, you can put it throughout the length of you hair and on your ends, hell you can eat it if you want! :lachen:

Just applied castor oil to my scalp, not only that but I also DC'd with castor oil earlier today. Hope you ladies are still hangin' in there!
