RAVE: Snowdrift Farm\'s Olive Butter & Shea Oil!
Both of these products are superior. I've been wanting to try olive butter for the longest time and to obtain a reasonably priced shea oil which was excellent.
I purchased 1lb of each from SnowdriftFarm.com and can't say how pleased I've been with the quality, price and packaging.
Both of these products came packaged "professionally". The olive butter was packaged in a HUGE plastic container with the company's label on it and the jar was sealed with black tape. The bottles of shea oil were done similarly. No accidents in the shipment.
If any of you have read my reviews on avocado butter, I would say the olive butter is closer to it than shea butter. The smell is utterly delightful---rich olive fruit odor--and the color is a vibrant green. It's highly concentrated and spreads extremely well. A very small amount on the skin or in your hair is adequate. With my hair, I used a miniscule amount to seal my ends and they were luscious! I also used a few small dabs after washing my hair. My hair was especially shiny and soft after using my diffuser.
In contrast to typical shea butter, the olive is not as solid. The melting factor in terms of your skin, well, the olive is like the avocado. It is absorbed quickly, but leaves a silkiness behind which, at least for me, the shea butter does not. The shea does leave a film, but not a silkiness. To achieve the latter with shea, I usually have to mix it w/a small bit of a carrier oil like jojoba.
Snowdrift Farm's shea oil is the absolute best I've used. The price was terrific and I can tell that I will add this to my list of "best" oils on the planet. The smell is a tad nutty and the texture is supreme. It has given my organic jojoba oil a run for its money for skin care especially. For hair care, it's worked even better than some of the shea oils I've used in the past. It's rich, distributes easily and absorbs in seconds. My hair feels like it's been bathed in silk and cream
I know that I will have each pound of the olive butter and shea oil for a LONG time because they are so concentrated. For those wondering about price, the olive butter was $9.95 and the shea oil was $8.95.
Happy Holidays,
Jade
