Random Hair Thoughts/Thinking out loud

I don’t know why I’m so excited about doing my mini twists tomorrow. I know my hair isn’t dense enough and my strands aren’t thick enough to look the way I want it to look.

I have visions of my hair looking like @curlcodeblack on IG, but she has as many twists in one quadrant as I plan on doing for my entire head.

My twists would look malnourished unless I wet it first. My stretched hair has like zero density.

I have come such a long way. The photo in the white was taken in 2018 and the blue one was earlier today. It's frizzed and bent but I surprised myself when I looked at it... I spent many years stuck at SL perpetually starting over, but turned things around in a big way at the end of 2021.
Why do I still feel like my hair is short? I think I'm suffering from "hairexia". Does anyone else ever feel that way? Will the feeling pass when I get to MBL or WL?

Is this your natural hair color? It’s beautiful. How do you maintain the fullness on your ends?

Yes this is my natural color! I started with a 2"-3" cut in 2021 and now I go in for a trim at every relaxer and have her take off between 1/4" and 1/2". Some people think I'm crazy for always cutting away my progress, but I'm still able to retain about 4" of quality length with maximum thickness per year. My hair has way less tangles as well saving me time on wash day.

I washed my hair this morning to prep for putting in twists tonight. I’m wearing a wet bun to work.

Now I’m having second thoughts about doing twists. Maybe I can just wear buns on vacation, but I will be snorkeling a lot so the bun would have to be on the top of my head so it doesn’t get in the way of the strap.

On the other hand, I never do twists, this would be a good chance to try them out

Decisions, decisions…..

I started back using chebe oil. I don’t love the smell so I only put it in the crown area. If I see progress I’ll use it all over twice a week.

I spent a few hours and did 64 twists and I don’t like them. Even when I started them with a braid my roots are too puffy. Oh well I’m going to wear them for this vacation. I’ll probably keep them pulled back in a pony tail.

I really may have to find a stylist because the desire to do my hair has been truant. The days that I was excited to wash my hair or relax it.

Do what you have to, sis! lol
I absolutely understand. And when you're busy, the last thing you want to do is more work during your "relax" time.

GL finding a stylist! Is there a Dominican salon near you or a beauty school? They could do something even as basic as wash, DC and double french braid or something that'll last at least a week.

Going to a gala/dinner thing tomorrow don't wanna re-do my hair. I have them in twists rn but I was thinking a twist out, half-up half-down would be the way to go. Any thoughts?

That sounds cute!
If your twistouts are cute to just wear by themselves, that's always a good go to.
You could also pin it over to one side.
I used to like doing a quick french roll in the back or an upward french braid (from the nape to crown, in the middle of my head) and down on one side in the front.
ETA: or a textured bun very low or very high would look great on twistout hair!
I'm sure you'll look cute with whatever you choose. Have fun! :)

I did the twistout and it looked cute so that's what I did. Thanks!

Girl I've been trying to finish my hair and I haven't had it in me. By the time I finish the top, it's gonna be time to take the back down lol
Are you refreshing your minibraids??

Sis, don't push it! Work on a schedule that works for you.
I can only refresh one row a day, every other day. And as long as I do the front, the middle and back usually can wait. lol.

I was putting a whole new set in, I had took them out for a bit lol

I had my hair shaven and bleached…—my goal is to find a solid wash and go routine that makes my hair feel moisturized for a full 2 days.
The mousse/leave-in/gel portion seems to be my issue, but I might be using an incorrect technique with actually washing and conditioning my hair for full moisture.

I had a dirty thought motivated by how tired I've been lately. I wonder how long I can go without washing my hair :scratchchin:
Even better I wonder how long I can keep this set of braids in, just keep refreshing them :lachen:

Don't mind me, I've been exhausted lately. Like for my kid's graduation, I'm just going to put a half wig with a headband on lol.
