Hi Ladies!!!!!

Now that my wedding planning is over, I'm baaaaaccccccckkkkkkkk!!!!!!! I've missed the forum so much!!! And I've missed being able to pay meticulous attention to my hair like I used to!

Anyway I've been taking a few days to catch up (ie...lurking) on what's been going on here on the boards lately. It's sooooo good to see so many new people on the board and good to see some of you have been on for years and still maintaining beautiful HEALTHY hair!! Also good to see that you guys have kept the Hide Your Hair Challenges going!!!!

Anyway to catch you guys up on me:
-I got married in August after being engaged for 22 months!! So I devoted a lot of the last year plus to planning the wedding. I also bought a house and moved just outside of Philly (I miss NY).

-About the hair...I've chopped my hair 2 times this year. Once in January and again last month. I also had 1 or 2 trims in the middle of that. My hair is growing back now and I'm a few inches above APL (my hair is in the middle of my shoulder blades). I also have bangs now, which are growing out very quickly!

-I honestly just started regular deep conditions again. I know that's sooooo bad! But I let my wedding and house buying take over my life which was bad.

-I'm not wearing any weaves right now just my hair.

-I'm contemplating what my next move will be with my hair...very recently I've considered going natural. I'm not sure about that yet, but I've been watching a lot of youtube videos and pics of natural ladies on the boards with women with natural hair and it's just been calling me!!!! Especially when I saw Poohbear's hair!!!!! Geez girl!! Your hair is looking good!!

-Anyway I haven't been protective styling as vigorously as I should be. I'm trying to wear more pin curl styles to limit heat though.

I think that's about it...I'll have to take an update picture of my hair to show you ladies. Hopefully I can get DH to take a picture of my hair soon.

Oh one more thing!!!! I finally decided that hair is what I want to do with my life!!!! I applied to the Aveda Institute and I got in, so I just have to get through financial aid and then I'll start in November (part-time that is). It's going to be hard process transitioning out of Corporate America but I know in the end I will be MUCH happier and fulfilled. My ultimate goal is own my own salon or salons dedicated to healthy hair.

Wow you have so much stuff going on! And it's all really GOOD stuff...definitely sounds like a happy period of your life and I'm glad for you :-)

Congrats on the wedding, house, new career...really new life!

The Aveda Institute should be so awesome. I actually thought about going there myself. You're sure to have many eager LHCF clients who want a stylist that knows about HEALTHY hair care.

Congrats again :-)

Hey RE!!!
Welcome back! Glad to see you're doing well. I too have considered leaving the boring Corporate world for the beauty industry. I wish you much success. Keep us updated. Your leap is inspiring others:yep:

Hey Girl Welcome back,

I was just yesterday doing a seach on flexirods and saw a thread by you and was wondering where you were.

Congrats on the wedding and the house, that is great news.

Are you still doing hair on the side I might have to come check you out

Welcome backk and congrats on your wedding! You got me into self weaving and I am forever grateful. I would have never thought I could do it.

That is really great that you are going to cosmetology school. Been there and done that, now I'm in college getting my B.A. I'm new here but I understand the precious information you can receive from here. Weddings are stressful and well as moving. Congrats on both. Your hair is beautiful from what I see.

Welcome back and Congratulations!

It's about time. I've been wondering where you (and your updates :sekret:) have been.

Hi there,

I haven't done much hair on the side lately because of the wedding and the move, but I always have some free time now...but I'm no longer in NY. I'm in PA now near Philly.

As of late I've decided that while I do like the company I work for, I need to use my God-given creative abilities.

I will have to continue to work full-time in my corporate job and go to school in the evenings for almost 2 years. It will be difficult especially since my time with my husband will be limited during the week, but we'll make it work. Right now we don't have any kids and it's probably the easiest time to accomplish something like this. He's in school part-time too so most of the time while I'll be in class, he'll be studying anyway.

I think one of the biggest hurdles I'm going to have to get over is the possiblity of taking a pay cut. Most stylists aren't paid highly out of the gate. So it will be hard adjusting to a different pay scale initially, but I believe we'll make it and God will provide. I reached a point in my life where I feel that as long as I can pay my bills, being happy going to work each day is MORE important than making a bunch of money. I also believe that you have a much higher chance of being successful financially if you are putting ur heart and soul into something you love each day instead of something like or just tolerate because you get a paycheck at the end of week.

Thanks for all the love and well wishes!!
