Question for those who color their weaves

I was wondering if you can dye 1b to 2. I have a closure from EP that I purchased and used only once, but EP has not had machine weft 1b 10in in awhile. I do not want to purchase the longer lengths because I like to wear my hair a little below next length and I can't see wasting my money on the longer lengths
