Loc'd 12/04 ~ 07/12.
Coming out of lurkdom ... I used some Sun In, as I have every summer, last week to get some highlights since I knew I would be in the sun all day during our trip to an amusement park. This, to me was easier than using permanent color and I always added some Suave Coconut conditioner to the mix since technically it's not a product for our hair. Other times I have used it, my locs have been fine, but this time they're kinda hard and brittle. Not to the breaking point, but they feel more like dried corn shucks. Any suggestions to regain my moisture? I no longer need the Sun In since I've achieved the coloring I want, but use-water-to-regain-moisture regime is not working for me. Thanks in advance.

I cannot answer your questions because my hair is not loc but I wanted to give you a shout out that your loc is da bomb! It's beautiful!

I don't know much about locs but there's a discussion on Nappturality that might help provide a few answers. I inferred that condition washes might help soften the locs but there was the question of build-up too, so see if you can pinpoint what might work: Locs discussion

Thanks for the compliment, Mystic. It’s really starting to come together now that I have some length going.

And thank you so much for the link to Nappturality, Nonie. I have both conditioner and Apple Cider Vinegar in my house, so I’ll give this a go and see how it turns out. Thanks again.
