Okay Ladies, I need your help!
Calling all who have permanent hair color, highlights etc.
Please take a look at my album and notice the length and condition of my hair from September of 2004 and now. You will notice that my hair has grown but it looks like crap! My doobie looks like a dontie (made up word) because you can see right through it. My hair sheds all the times and is very dry and brittle. I have highlights and permanent color that was done back in the summer. I was doing Nexxus Emergencee and laying off the heat and keeping my hair moisturized. Everything was fine for a while but now my hair is turning on me. I am thinking about cutting all the color off to where by black roots are and starting fresh. That will be so drastic for me to loose all this hair. Do you think I should just get a good cut to even the dead ends out and then start with a diligent hair care regime or should I go for the big chop. Tracy, if you’re out there please help. Should I try to do the Surge challenge, I am not sure how Surge will work with colored, relaxed hair.

I'm almost positive that you can nurse your tresses back to health with a little TLC and maybe a mini trim (not chop). Some things to consider would be: condition washes and protective styles while keeping your ends moisturized. If you want to see a drastic improvement on your ends try the baggie method. It's helped my ends out tremendously!
What has helped me retain length and thickness is frequent protein treatments. I know alot of people speak against but color makes your hair VERY weak and it needs constant protein to keep it strong!! I give myself a protein treatment every 3 days
Now emergencee is good, but that is a polymeric conditioner it basically seals the cuticle... I would suggest you alternate between Emergencee and a keratin protein (keraphix, ion, etc) to fill in those porous gaps along the cuticle
PLEASE DON'T CHOP.. Your hair looks just fine to me
. I have heard that frequent blowouts can cause thinning due to the tugging of the round brush
)... but I used to have it all kinds of colors! LOL
