Why would a person pre-poo? I understand why one would choose to no-poo, but does pre-poo'ing make shampooing less harmful to the scalp? If so, what do you use to pre-poo? I'm asking because I'm in a transitioning state, so every bit of advise can help me for the road to come...

Pre-pooing is beneficial to some because some shampoos tend to be stripping and with the pre-poo, the shampoo strips less of the natural oils. I started back up with pre-pooing and I can tell a difference with my hair. My hair is softer, stronger, and better condition compared to when I took a break in pre-pooing. I can't seem to give up shampoos that contain sodium laureth sulfate.

I too use extra virgin olive oil but I use something extra. I add honey and recently rosemary extract to add moisture and shine.

I pre-poo for moisture. I usually either do a hot oil treatment (I like Hot 6 Oil the best for this) or a honey/EVOO mixuture with Suave Milk & Honey cond. to thicken it up a bit. I leave them on for about an hour. Sometimes I'll put a hot, wet towel under my cap for a homemade steam treatment.
