What's the general consensus on using a protein spray (either Joico-liquid reconstructor or aphogees green tea) after rinsing and dc'ing after a henna application.
Seeing that henna is considered a protein treatment by most, is using such sprays, overdoing with the protein or it's fine?

well if it's a lighter dose of protein like Aphogee's 2 min, vs a heavier dose like Aphogee's 2-step reconstructor, then I think that you should just make sure that you wait at least a week before spraying. If it's a heavier dose, though, I'd wait at least a few months. I don't use Aphogee's 2-step, though, so I'm only familiar with lighter protein treatments. HTH

I dont use Aphogee two step either. I perfer Emergencee for protein treatments like that

The ones I usually use are the protein leave in spray, Joico and Apogee green tea

maybe i shopuld wait a week Hm

I haven't henna'd yet, but I have been doing a ton of research. From what I can tell, immediately following the henna, you should moisturize. I haven't seen anything suggesting further protein should be used. I say it all depends on your hair and how it feels. If it feels rough, dry or brittle after you henna, leave the spray alone for a few days. HTH

Henna acts like a protein so a protein spray after a henna treatment would cause a protein overload and lead to breakage. A moisturising spray would be more beneficial.

Thanks girls :)

I definitely intend on following up on a moisturizing DC right after rinsing out the henna, just wasnt sure if I should still use a protein spray as a leave in. I usually use a protein spray then a creamy moisturizing leave in for my roller sets.

Guess I should leave that for next week huh?

I always Condition the Mess out of my Hair. I rinse the Henna out with a cheapie like VO5 "Moisture something" and the I DC a few hours and will sit with it on and then follow up with either Heat Cap or Steam with a Heavy DC Treatment. :drunk:

I am always concerned with Balancing my Protein & Moisture and I Need Both. So, I try to keep them at Optimal Levels.

One reason, being I use alot of Protein. Maybe within the next few days, because I use MT, Mane & Tail and others.

Unless you're relaxed, there isn't any point in using both henna and protein, especially if you intend to apply henna on a regular - say monthly - basis.
