I've seen these on people before. I've never had them done on me though. I do not like them because I could always tell when someone had a "braid weave".

I guess the purpose is the least damage to your own hair when transitioning. I dunno, braids look the same to me, either singles or tracks. You can tell lol. But with these, you can take them down often, quickly and without lots of damage. I don't like those ponytails and 1/2 weaves and wigs. The GrowAfroHairLong method is great...just that darned take-down!

These look neat!! I'd consider getting them and maybe actual real braids around the front, edges and nape. It's not much difference since I wear my hair in cornrows under my wigs and I'm still able to co wash 2x a week with them in.

Thanks for the link!!

DO NOT GET THEM IT WILL BE AWASTE OF MONEY, I got these for my daughter and they do look good but you cannot cut them in any way and they are very hard to sew onto the braided hair, they have no type of weft on them at all, it was a waste of money and time.

You're right - you can sometimes tell when someone is wearing braids using fake hair. However, with a braided weave you can clearly tell it's a weave and not regular braids because it tends to look quite bulky. Almost wiggish, in fact, due to none of the scalp showing like you'd expect with regular singles. With that said, maybe how well these turn out is dependent on your/the stylists skills.

I don't mind the braid take-down. I keep them in for usually 3 months, so I'm ok with the length of time it takes to remove them. I don't get them too small either, which helps.

I had these and they were great when I was preggo. I had no problems accessing the cornrows underneath. The hair is not actually microbraids, but microtwists. The weft is soem type of super heavy duty thread and the hair is attached to it. The only problem I had was when I had to cut the very last weft. I had to secure the new knot I made when I cut the weft with super glue. You attach the hair like hand tied wefts, no cutting just fold the hair over and keep sewing. It installs very fast. I never cut my length so I was able to reuse the hair. I will try to post pics when I get home.

I had these done while in college. My hair grew like crazy, (or rather I retained all of my hair) but they're ugly. You can't pull them back into a ponytail because you can see the "humps" which are the cornrows with the braided hair attached.

I was still able to get to my scalp and washing was easy.

For me it was tough and I was like never again LOL!! we were trying to cut them shorter for my daughter but then they all started sliding off, I got them about 4 years ago maybe 5. but it was a bad experience for me, but try them you might like them, I prefer to just go get my hair braided.

I have thick hair and children lol! I used to put in my braids but it's too time-consuming. I also don't like the damage you get with microbraids. I don't like large braids either. Kinda stuck.

^^ I understand. I have a lot of hair and it does take a loong time to put in and remove very small braids. If you do this weave, you should probably try to leave some of your hair out and have it replicate the weave hair for a more natural look. Nichi and Ediese also wear regular weaves that look great, so that might be a good alternative. They've started some threads with their pics in it (along with info, I suspect).

When I get braids now, they aren't very big. They're 1/2 the size of my pinky finger but not micro style small. I do not braid all the way to the ends either, so that shaves off some time. It takes about 3-4 hours to install. Senegalese twists take about 2 - 2.5 hours.
