Proper Care for Summer Braids?

Hi ladies. I'm back. I went home for the weekend (and really missed LHCF!) and got some microbraids. I've always wanted them and they look great. I'm 9 weeks post relaxer and plan on leaving them in for a hot minute. I hope they will get me over this hump that my hair can never grow past, which is my ears. I am tired of getting relaxers every 7 weeks (stretching doesn't work for me), rollersetting, curls not holding, sooo microbraids it is! So it's official, I'm unofficially brastrap length now. :-D

I'm very happy I got them because my plan is to take them out in the middle or end of July and be 20 weeks post relaxer! By then my hair will have grown to shoulder length, which is something I've never had!

The African girl that braided my hair told me to "grease my scalp as much as I can" and "dont wash your hair, use seabreeze". Thats pretty much all she told me.

Well, I'm not a big grease fan, I use oils with the WGO applicator tip and I already knew that seabreeze soothes the scalp but I think I will at least like to wash my braids maybe once every three weeks. I just can't see myself going without shampoo for two months.

I hope at least braids are low maintenance/manipulation but how often should I oil my scalp and are there any particular products to use on the length of the human hair? She used this "hair mousse for relaxed hair". I have NTM leave-in foam. What will happen if I do lightly wash my hair? Do I just air dry it or can i sit under the dryer/hand dryer? Should I do anything to my edges because I don't want to take them out and have a receeding hair line? Do you ladies know of any cute stylest to wear? Right now the only way I know to wear it is in a high ponytail bun.

TIA for all the info!

When I was in braids, I used braid spray (any of the brands are usually good) for moisture and Motions Nourish Leave-In every other day to add some protein. I didn't wash my braids because I had a bad experience washing micros, but I may try again next time I get them. I didn't oil my scalp either.

One of my favorite styles was a braid-out. I would spray the braids with water, put some mousse on them, and cornrow 5 or 6 braids going back. Take them out when dry and you'll have a nice wavy look.

Well I actually washed my braids. In the shower I would dilute the shampoo in a cup of water and pour that on my scalp. I would then massage and rinse. After a couple of weeks with more new growth, I would do the same with conditioner. Oh and I did rub it on the ends of the hair to remove the product buildup. I would spray it every night with braid spary and braid my hair with mousse (like the previous poster stated). I put rods on the ends so that they would be curly/wavey too.

I just got my hair cornrowed today. I spray Better Braids Medicated Braid Spray on once a day (before bed). It says to shampoo once a week, so I plan on diluting some shampoo in a spray bottle so its easier to rinse, and spraying it on. Then I will do the same with conditioner and rinse that. I plan on keeping them in for a month at a time.

I will be applying Sulfur 8 to my scalp in between the braids 2-3 times a week. I am going to keep my hair braided for the summer, maybe longer. Whenever I take my braids out, I get DA BOMB braid out, so I may even rock that for a week before I get it rebraided. I am going to give my hair a break for at least 2 weeks before I get it rebraided.
