Profectiv No-Lye Relaxer..Why is this slept on?

I used this relaxer for about my third time yesterday.

It's such a great, gentle relaxer IMHO. I hardly notice it being mentioned here so I decided to make a thread giving it love.:yep:

Good things about it:
The activator was a cream! So it was very easy to mix!:yep:
The smell isn't harsh or very "chemical" like other relaxers.
My hair actually felt strong, moist, and healthy after using it.
No burning or itching.:nono:
My hair is very silky right now!:lick:
It has great ingredients in it such as protein.
The neutralizing mousse is  in a can! It doesn't strip or tangle my hair like other neutralizers.

The only bad thing is they do not give you enough relaxer (or maybe my head is big ). I have to buy the box with "2 touch-ups" just for one touch up session. And even then, I had to scrape some of the relaxer out the container with my fingers. I used every last bit.

I used my own deep conditioner with this (since it didn't come with one...). I also used my own leave-in even though the Profectiv leave-ins are fairly decent for my hair.

Just wanted to point out a hidden gem that often get slept on. Anyone else like this relaxer?

I have heard good things about it. I almost used it this last time but decided to go with Silk Elements again.

I've used Silk Elements in the past and liked it. But it burned something SERIOUS!

I did burn a little (probably my own fault b/c I had a scratch session 2 days before I relaxed), but nothing can burn for me like Soft n Beautiful (the relaxer I used for a year).

i bought this and never used it (still in the closet). i don't remember why i never used it, probably because i have a phobia about using box relaxers (due to improper use of them back in the day).

i might have to try this...i love my mizani, but i hate the strong smell of it.

you're right ....it gets no love round here

I mentioned it in the "best relaxers" thread some time ago and nobody paid attention.....everybody unto mizani, phyto, silk elements or ors

I used profectiv relaxer for about 1 yr before I decided to go natural and that was the best I had ever seen my relaxed hair.

Now that I'm relaxed again I'm going back to profectiv. I love that stuff!!!!

i've used this in the past but it was befor i started careing about my hair :ohwell: so i dont remember if it was good or bad i do remember loveing the mouse tho, i switched to lye not long after

I use this and I got it because the touch up kits were on sale at Walgreens. 2 touch ups for like $3. You know I was on it. I check the expiration dates...I'm good for a whole year

I used it twice - taking a break from my ORS :nono: It dried out my nape and I ended up having some breakage ( which eventually brought me here). I don't think my nape was over-processed either, since I started my relaxers in the crown where I had the most NG and did my nape/edges last.

Just not for me I guess.

I used to love this relaxer. This used to be my staple relaxer before I tried ORS and then switched to Lye relaxers altogether. Yes, this is one of the best no-lye relaxers out there. I still use the neutralizing mousse because it is too good not to use and it is gentle on my hair.

I used to have a phobia about boxed relaxers too. I switched to lye and my scalp hated me for it. So I went back to no-lye and haven't had a problem.

Isn't it good! Glad to see you have good results. PS: I've used all of the relaxers that you mentioned above (except for phyto) and this is the best one imho.:yep:

I don't know if they have a lye formula. It's worth looking into though.

I used to use this when I was relaxed and it made my hair so silky and strong!!!
That's exactly how my hair feels right now.

Wow that's GREAT price. I paid about 8 dollars for the double box. Not bad but not a good deal like you got.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that.

It's very gentle on my hair too. It doesn't strip it either like other neutralizing poos. I  it!

I've never tried the relaxer, but the neutralizing mousse is to die for and I just bought a can yesterday which will remain one of my staple products. The only poo that softens my roots beyond the 8 week mark. Loves the stuff and smells yummy too.

I loved this relaxer. I used it for about 2 years before switching to Optimum Anti breakage. I even tried the one with the color in it. Loved it. The only reason I stopped using it was because it was getting really hard to find. At the time I wasn't a frequenter of bbs and bought my relaxers at CVS or HEB. Maybe I'll switch back. I don't know.

I like the profectiv relaxer, but nobody sells it around here. It left my hair feeling a lot silkier and less dry than some of the others that I've used.

you mentioned going relaxed again, what made you relax after going natural?!?

you're right ....it gets no love round here

This is a great no-lye relaxer :yep: I have done 3 touch ups on a friend with very thick, resistant, 4B BSL hair with this already. Her hair is very similar to taz007 in terms of length and texture. She waits until she has like 2-3" of NG to relax. She uses super. What impressed me, is that even though it was super strength, she didn't burn at all and she is very tender-headed.

If my own hair were not repulsed by no-lye, I would definitely go with this brand :yep:

Does it get your friend's hair bone straight? I have a lot of textures that I need to overcome:ohwell: and I don't want any waves:nono:

So I used Profectiv a few weeks ago. It got my hair straight but certain areas were underprocessed. I realized that I need a relaxer for coarse hair, even though my hair is fine. My stylist who used to do my hair back in the daaay suggested that I go back to Precise for coarse hair b/c that is what used to work when I was a teenager.. So Profectiv was good and got some parts of my roots straight but if I ever use it or any other relaxer again, I have to use the coarse formula...

I used this for a while and really loved it but same as Leona it got hard for me to find so I tried Mizani because i had heard so much about it. My last relaxer was Alter Ego Linage Sgea Butter No lye relaxer which I really liked but because you can't find it in the store i am thinking about trying Profectiv again.

I used this relaxer for my last touch up because I heard so many good things about it. But it was too strong for my hair. Yeah, my hair was silky and moisturized but very weak. I left in on for just 20 minutes and my hair is coarse but highly porous; easily relaxed. I think I would just go back to my previous relaxer...
