PRESSING WET TO DRY NATURAL HAIR!

i usually blow dry and then flat iron. I tried to roller set but because i'm texlaxed , the roller sets are giving a bit TOO much body. Not to say that happens to everyone texlaxed...but for me....i know i didn't have that problem when i was relaxed bone straight.

So the blow dry/flat iron comes out great but i'm always looking for some way to eliminate @ least some of the heat. And i'm noticing a few more split ends then usual and im thinking this HAS to be from using the big round brush when blow drying ( using the blow dryer pick comes out worse and i dont like putting the blow dryer that close to my hair)
yes girl! then ditch that blow dryer, I can tell you without a doubt this will be far better for you hair and hold more moisture than a blow dryer and since thats what your doing anyway, yeah you might as well do it this way and cut out the blow drying process all together, my hair fares MUCH better this way than any kind of blow drying, This will be much better for your hair then:yep:

it might take some time, but for me , it takes no longer going through this drying process, than blow drying would. and the end result is so much better! I say go for it girl:yep:

Awwww... I felt a little bad for you. You didn't look like your were having too much fun.

I may have to try this. It's hell getting my hair straight even though I only have a little bit of hair. :scratchch

Looks like it gradually straightens the hair in one step. Instead of rollersetting/blowdrying first, I can just sit down and begin the process.

You swiped your hair so many times though. On dry hair I know that's not a good thing. Do you feel that the water protects your hair some? Funny as that sounds.

I'm going to try it on a section of my hair one of these days with my maxiglide.

I hope you feel better!

Everybody is getting sick. :( I actually just got over pneumonia and the flu like 2 weeks ago. :(

LOLOL Neith awww I know I looked miserable huh? I was :spinning:

The fun comes after , hehe

Thank you girl! yeah I do feel the water protects it, you cant ever burn something wet , so its the same principle, see how fast the water cools off the comb? yep its all one process instead of the rest , blah, I could never do all that, this is bad enough haha

I still gotta do the final press, but yeah still not feeling totally great yet either, but gettting better:yep:

WoW! That's a lot of work! I know your arms were tired:yep:
Your hair turned out beautiful, that was to be expected though. You have a beautiful head of hair, just like someone else that is near and dear to me. I hope you feel better.:sick2:

Thank you sweetie!! :sneakyhug:
yeah my arms usually end up sore, but this time it wasnt so bad, I was chillin most of the time and didnt do the final press right after so it wasnt as bad

poka, do you think your gonna do this? I really really wanna see it when/if you do:yep:

Well I haven't fully decided yet. If I find out you can do this with the maxiglide I might though. I'm pretty sure I don't have the patience to do it with a hot comb, lol. I might do a test section one day just to see how things go.

great vid, i havnt watched all of them but the wet to press thing is often slept on. one day ill show how i do it.. i find working with my hair 50-70% dry provides the same results but its easier to get it flat press (alot less run thros). for me i jus have to sit under my soft bonnet for 30-45 mins but in the end i save some hassle wit the whole iron.. i also dont even bother rolling my hair up while under the drier which saves time.

anyway thanks for putting that out there. i had the same problem with my first video, i am finding it best to try and cut as much as possible so the video is shorter even if you have to cut the cam off and b4 doin that jus say I am going to repeat this over this whole side etc and then cut it back on when you have more done.. not sure if this specifically applies to you since i have not watched all the videos.

OMG!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for making these vids!! I am relaxed(thinking about transitioning for a second time...lol) but I have a 3yr old DD with natural hair. Her texture looks similar to yours. I pressed her hair out for the first time this past Sunday. I poo, DC, blow-dry(soooo time consuming and left her with a dry fro), then flat iron. The end results was great....soft, shiny hair but it was took too long (from 10am-6pm....including breaks, eating times, etc). This method looks great!!!
Do you mind listing the products you used again. I have the Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat and All Soft Heavy Cream....I did not understand how you used them prior to the press treatment.

Thanks again....I think you have helped make my life a little easier!!

ETA: Your hair is beautiful!!!!

Wow, I had never heard of this. I think I saw a wet to dry flat iron or something somewhere but it just sounded so crazy I never paid it any attention.

Your vids were very informative and so is this thread.

How did you first come to do this?

I would be so afraid...she said as she's sitting here surfing LHCF while she sits under dryer with big rollers in her hair prepping to flat-iron tomorrow !!!

Ok Ladies!!! This is the deal here. My hair reverted.

Here is my fotki, you can check and see that my hair went back after washing it this morning and I did this Tuesday night.

I am super skiddish about anyone putting heat in my hair due to damage this past June from an area salon, that now has me sporting a short do.

I will continue with this when I want to wear my hair straight.

Thanks Irresistable....!!!!

Thanks for all the work. Lawd have mercy. I'm amazed that your hair didn't burn and that none came out. Amazing.

Loved hearing your story too. Touching. God Bless. I had all but given up on my hair until your story in the video. Gave me renewed strength.

Iris,

What do you mean by Final Press. I think it was in video 4 but it didn't load ;(
Thats when I go through it with another type of comb and get it really straight. I'm gonna do that soon. I usually would do it right after the first press, but didnt this time

Thank you girl!!!

with the conditioners I just did a series of them before the pressing, I was sick and so to buy time I just kept putting them in and rinsing them out untill I was ready lol

I used Redken All Soft first
Then Butter treat like overnight
Then Aveda Brilliant (kept putting this in my hair for days untill I was ready)
and last was VS so sexy for the scent

yeah the blow drying is so hellish compared to this! I'm glad you can try this and save her hair and your arse :lachen:

I cant say its less time, but its less harsh on the hair methinks:yep:

Thank you! Gurl I just started doing it when I wanted to stop going to my hair dresser , I wass never afraid to do it for some reason, I just figured it would be fine, and it was. now its been years of doing this and I never want another blow dryer to come near my hair LOL

My hair dry , even air dried is hellish to straighten, I think I would burn it or somethin, this is the only way I CAN do it, so its like it was my only optoin , so I had to do it. Its much easier to work through:yep:

what flat iron did you use? I used a friends remington wet to straight and it worked pretty well, just wanted to know if there are any others out there
