if you want to skip to the final result of the 'first press' on soaking wet hair skip to here!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyb60ho2s4w

so glad thats done! geesh!

eta, dang I messed up the title , it has to be right for searches later methinks, so this one can fall off , and I'll do another one with the title right

You can also put videos in your fotki. Try that

Hey Iris! Nice videos, and beautiful hair as always! I had a question: Have tried blowdrying with a comb attachment first and then pressing with a pressing comb for quicker results?

PB! Hey girl!

Thank you!!!
nah I cant blow dry at all, not with the attachments either, this way really keeps the moisture in more than blowdying ever did for me , blowdring is a nightmare, well erm this is too but you know......the lesser of the two evils for me girl

i just wanted to show that this is REALLY how I do it and there are no down sides with it at all

I used to do this so much eaiser, its getting to be more and more of a job now though:spinning:

Oh ok, well that's great that there's no down sides to it at all. I just watched a few of your other videos too, awesome! I can't wait til my hair grows out more!

I can't get the full effect of these at work, but I can't wait to get home and watch these. It could save my aunt hundreds if she would just learn how to do this.

Girl, that looks like a loooong process, lol. I never knew you could press wet hair w/o using some type of wet to dry iron. Even with a wet to dry iron I'm too scared but now seeing that you do it I feel better about trying it. So you've had no problems with your hair reverting back after you wet press it? Can I do this with Maxiglide? I must admit I am terrified, lol. But I think I will eventually give it a try.

Thanks for taking the time to do these video's! I loved the waves in your hair when you took the twist down. Your results were beautiful! Your hair was so shiny and moisturized looking but it wasn't weighted down and had tons of movement.

Oh, I don't know much about video editing but for the vids that were too long to upload is it possible that you could clip out a few minutes just to get it to 10 so it can upload to yt? I don't know if you have Windows Movie Maker but you can clip however much you want off with that just to get it to 10.

just a matter of time girl , just a matter of time

yep its saved me money and my hair, not the total pain in the you know what
of it all though, but its all good, I'm real glad I leaned to do this this way instead of being a slave to my hair dresser

my hair thanked me for it too :yep:

hey pokathota$$ hehe

nah girl , not one problem with doing it this way whatsoever, i know its different and probably scary for some, thats what I wanted to show the most, to not be afraid, jt really has been harmless and way more healthy
for my hair, but i understand the fears of pressing this way, I really do

I hope that what I put into the videos can help at least somewhat with the fear of this method

it really does work:yep:

I dont know how to edit videos and all that yet, but I will find a way to get those videos up later on-at least the links to them

should have watched the time :wallbash:

but I'm just glad its done now

eta:I dont know what the results would be for a maxiglide on wet hair, but its using the same principle , moisture from steam (water)

I actually hated the Maxiglide, errgh@ the teeth and it was so akward for me to use

I just finished watching your videos. Great job! Girl, that's a lot of pretty hair. You mentioned the last video being the results of the "first press". I'd love to see the "final press". I know you are tired of making videos, but can we at least see a pic?

Whew! Thank you so much! yeah that wore me out, I dont know why I THOUGHT I could do that all at once and get to and finish the final press too, :nono:LOL, but I do plan to finish this in the next day or so with the final press

Beautiful!

ETA: Everybody wants to see the final press, I know you wanna do it but kinda don't lol.

Thank You! Ever since you posted your wet to dry pictures I've been reading up and considering it.
Yeah I'm hoping me doing it right there on cam would make some somewhat less leery of this method to wet straightening

Beautiful!

Thank you sweetie

I'm probably gonna do the final press tomorrow some time, but the first point was to show the wet pressing and geesh doing all that on camera was rough, made it all take way longer, and the uploading too? lawdhammercy

but I was gone all day today, I will try to get the final one done tomorrow though for sure:yep:

Ok everyone, Irresistable is on to something.

I have 4a--z hair, and i did this last night and my hair is soft.

Check out my fotki for verification of my type and the results of the wet press.

I like this method better than the blow dryer and flat iron. My hair is soft yall.

I used QB detangler on my wet hair in the beginning... then later, a little bergomont (sp?) grease. My hair does not smell fried at all.. nor does my house! I will post more pics at my fotki when I wash it to show reversion, although you can see that it wasn't damaged.

I'm glad to hear you tried it and it worked for you :yep:

Nice pics, thanks for posting.

I honestly got my best and prettiest flat-iron when I used a wet to dry flat-iron. I couldn't get it silky straight like at the salon, but my hair felt healthy and soft. And I lost a lot less hair than I do when I blow-dry. Well I did use the blow-dryer a little, but on cool and to get some of the water out of my hair, then I used a wet-to-dry iron on damp hair. I cannot use a pressing comb though:nono:, I would be all burnt up.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I always got a beautiful texture when I pressed wet hair, but I never figured out this technique.

What else you got?! I'm ready to learn more stuff . . .(off to search all of irresistible's threads).

yeah girl the pressing comb aint no joke you really have to be comfortable with it and kinda get it down to a T , then its no worry

I will be posting the other videos somewhere , just so its all put together somehow and the final press, soon , thought it would be today, maybe not, maybe later tonight, or tomorrow but its coming:yep::spinning:

You are on to something lady! The tutorial was awesome, such a pretty head of hair!! Another member on here mentioned using a flat iron on wet hair and that it worked as well. She used the T3 wet/dry flat iron. I am seriously considering buying one now, b/c I would prefer to use that over the hot comb. I do not straighten that often, but it would be nice to be able to do it on damp hair without having to torture my hair with the blowdryer. I also think stretching the hair out and letting it airdry or doing the ponytail rollersets are nice as well.

Shoot, T3 here I come. I think I will buy one for Christmas from Ulta when the sale comes on!!

Dern...that's alotta hair girly!!!!:spinning::grin:

It turned out very nicely:yep:, it's good to see that it works well for natural hair. I wonder how (or if:look:) it works for relaxed hair too. I wonder what the long term effect would be for wet flatironing (and pressing) relaxed hair.

Yeah Foxie was brave to try it right away after we were discussing it in another thread, I think some other relaxed ladies tried it too:yep:

I had said in the other thread that if you blow dry, this would definitely be better for your hair , even for relaxed hair, that much I really do know for sure:yep:

Thank you mama!

I just cant say for sure, but my thinking is how could it be worse long term than anything else , such as blow drying, flat ironing dry hair, I do know the job would be MUCH easier on relaxed hair compared to what I go through
LOL

But if you feel your hair is 'weaker' while wet and cant tolerate this, I say just leave it alone, it wouldnt be worth it, but if you blow dry anyway, yeah doing this would do wonders compared to the blow dryer sucking out all the moisture

poka, do you think your gonna do this? I really really wanna see it when/if you do:yep:

I couldnt fight the temptations. I ran up stairs, washed a section, dryed it alittle and then did it. That little section came out pretty good except my ends weren't as great because of the curls i guess.

Is this safe to do every week? (i use heat every week too straighten during the winter)

hehe girl , too funny

well the ends are usually a little 'off' at first press and run through while drying, its the going over them better with the final press that gets them right:yep:

as far as doing this every week, Only because you say your going to be doing it anyway, yup you could do this every week just the same, there is only three choices really, air dry fully, or blow dry (or dryer) to dry straighten, or there is wet/damp straightening, I really would say if your straightening every week you will have plenty of chances to see how this will work for you

how do you usually do it?

i usually blow dry and then flat iron. I tried to roller set but because i'm texlaxed , the roller sets are giving a bit TOO much body. Not to say that happens to everyone texlaxed...but for me....i know i didn't have that problem when i was relaxed bone straight.

So the blow dry/flat iron comes out great but i'm always looking for some way to eliminate @ least some of the heat. And i'm noticing a few more split ends then usual and im thinking this HAS to be from using the big round brush when blow drying ( using the blow dryer pick comes out worse and i dont like putting the blow dryer that close to my hair)
