Prescription for the silkiest flat-ironed hair

All this talk about LUST--I couldn't wait til this weekend, so I gave in and did my hair last night.

So far, this is my personal prescription for the best flat-ironed hair I've ever had.

1. Shampoo with the best moisturizing, detangling shampoo you can find followed by an AV rinse: I used Keracare.

2. Apply a cholesterol/moisturizing treatment to lubricate, moisturize, and thereby protect the strands from heat: I used Wella Kolestral for at least 20 minutes under a dryer (warm [not hot] heat). (Next time I might try 10 en 1 cond. or Humecto.)

3. Finish with a hair smoothing treatment:
For me, LUST, followed by Biosilk Silk Therapy (both smell delicious).

4. Dry hair and comb out: Finger comb. Dry under dryer or air dry until 95% dry.
Part hair into 8 sections. Comb out gently with a wide-tooth comb. Then proceed to swipe each section about four times with a medium-low-heat dryer. (If the scalp is still not dry, get back under the hooded dryer for about 10 more minutes on cool air.) Let me just point out that the comb just fell through my hair. I was like "Oh my gawd." This is about four weeks after my touchup. My hair never detangled so well. I think this was due to the LUST, which sat for 4 minutes on my hair---I wonder what the effects would have been if I let it set for 15 minutes? Hmmmmmm.

6. Flat Iron. Now for the finish--on medium heat flat iron hair--one swipe only. Bump the ends under. Finish with a couple of drops of jojoba oil and/or hair
polish. And wrap and scarf the hair.

This morning the results were amazing--nothing but bouncy shiny hair. (I also dabbed a bit of UBH Lotion onto the hair this morning to reintroduce the moisture.) I was walking around work all day just grinning (thanks to all you

DSD,

That's not a bad idea to print this. Hmmm...we could all start a binder full of our favorite threads

Then LHCF could publish a book and be rollin' in it $$$$$

PP, do you have relaxed, texturized, or natural hair? also, what's your hairtype?

I'm at work. So ya'll know Im sneaking . . .

Hi Caralexis . ., My hair is relaxed--actually it is underprocessed. I use Affirm Mild.

My hairtype is 4a/4b. Around my ears and hairline it is 5a/b (if there is such a thing--hair that never relaxes and is hard to the touch.)

The flat iron I use is called "Magic." It has ceramic plates and emits negative ions.

PP, did you use a heat protectant or anything on your hair prior to flat ironing?

[/ QUOTE ]

Sithembile, the Biosilk Silk Therapy is a heat protectant. If I am not mistaken, it is manufactured by the same people who manufacture the famous Chi Flat Iron (I don't recall their name exactly, something like "Faouk"). It was created to work in conjunction with the flat iron to give the silkiest results but at the same time to protect the hair. Once you put it on your hair, your hair softens immediately. You can also use it to soften your skin. Its really a good product.

Which biolage silk therapy did you use? I believe there is a biolage silk therapy SHINE and a biolage silk therapy SMOOTHING TREATMENT.

soslychic,

Correction: It's Farouk Silk Therapy.

This company manufactures a number of salon hair products.

Additionally, the ceramic flat iron is among the best one can purchase, from what I have read.

I second the comments re: the Farouk Biosilk Therapy.

Thanks for the corrections, Northernbelle. The company that makes the Chi Flat Iron and Biosilk products is Farouk Systems Inc. Their website is farouk.com.

Also, Biosilk is different from Biolage--different companies. I use Biosilk Silk Therapy. Here is the webpage that explains the product. BioSilk Silk Therapy

I love this method to flat iron hair! I've using a similar method when I flat iron for about 3 months now, and my hair has never looked better. I am new to the forum(about a week), and have learned a lot of great stuff. I am gonna try all the products you say you use.
