Praying to GOD for Big Things

Hello-

I have a cousin who just turned 30 and is a multi-millionaire. She met a guy who was working in telecommunications for a cell phone company and he told her about a business she could get into. To make a long story short, she ended up hooking up with a cell phone company that wasn't very technically advanced. She made millions off of them.

She lives in a 2 million dollar home. She told me that it's just a starter home for her and she was going to give it to her mother and sister and move into an even bigger home.

She says that she asks for big things from GOD because he can bless her with them.

I tried once to ask GOD for some "big" things, didn't feel right doing it (because HE is so good), and didn't get anything that I prayed for. I think that we are all on a different path. Just because my cousin has a 2 million dollar home doesn't mean that HE wants me to have one too.

Any thoughts?

I totally agree with the bolded. No man will have the same path. But Matthew 6:19-21 came to mind when I read your post. As much as I'd love to live in a huge, beautiful home I'd much rather see God's face, or hear His voice, or win a soul for His kingdom. As I've matured in Christ I've realized that living for eternity is much more important than living for this World. But err..now if I could see his face AND have the house..:lachen:

Well to each its own but I don't pray for real big things like that although something of that magnitude would be icing on the cake. Honestly, I don't think I would want to live in a 2 million dollar house....maybe a $700-1million dollar house that's small(under 5,000 square feet) with a lot of amenities. I don't pray for that much worldly wealth but for enough to take care of my immediate family and friends in need.

Sometimes I feel that way and then I remember the book of Ecclesiastes...in the end, will it matter? If (God forbids) something happens to your cousin, what is all that stuff going to mean to her? Nothing, cuz at that point, it's all about your soul. Put/seek God first and keep asking. Things may not happen how you expect they would. Your cousin seems to have a lot of biz saavy....also talk to her. Just my 2 cents

My cousin is in another business now. She is working with oil companies as a headhunter. That's not for me. We have talked about becoming an entrepreneur before but it's not for me at this time. I have another cousin who is a multi-millionaire as well. He is 36 and owns a car dealership.

I don't consider myself in the world. But you know how it is when you hear about what others your age are doing---it used to make me evaluate myself. BUT now, I am trying to live for GOD and not man. I think we all want nice things but you know what--I am already blessed.

I did get caught up once and prayed for some big things and didn't even feel right doing it. I must have been watching too much Joel Osteen at the time. :perplexed

Right now, my pursuit is more for the Lord. However, my desires are big I want an overflow so that I can be a blessing to others.

OP, I know people like that they say all I did was ask God and he gave it to me, some are not even christians, but they say when they call on the name of the Lord he blesses them.

Why do we feel bad for answering our Father for things. He knows what is in your heart and he stated " Ask and it will be given to you, knock and the door will be open, seek and you will find." The key is not to just go to the Father when you want but always seek his face.

It is just like us with our children. We don't mind them asking, in fact we what to know their wants so that we can bless them but we don't want them just to come to us when they need or want something, we want their love unconditionally.

It is the same with the Father. I truly believe that Daddy wants us all to have, maybe not the same as someone else but He wants us to have. When we go to him we should go saying " Your will be done not mine".

I truly believe that just as He promised the Israelites when they were in the wilderness that He would move them into a land of milk and honey He will do the same for all of us.

However we have to " Seek first the kingdom of God and all things will be given unto us"

I agree with Lady R. and her post:yep:

God is our Father in Heaven. If we go to the Lord praying and seeking him first then all things will be added to us. Look at our Childern for example they ask us for things etc.. We try to do things and buy things and give advice according to what we can provide within our human capacity. Now we ask God for somethig as well as pray it is Within The Lords Will to Provide our needs for us. It just depends on what we ask for. Now if U pray for certain things to happen and it does not, God will always show u why u should not have it. Also, God is not always there when u call God is always on time. We just just got to Have Faith in God first, Foremost and in All things.
When God Provides what u have asked for Do not forget about The Lord!:yep: Give God the Glory, Honor and Praise :yep:

In Jesus Name!:yep:
