POO VERSES NO POO!!!!!!

Ladies I've been doing conditioner washes for weeks now and i love it! I just wanted to know if it's o.k to do conditioner washes all the time instead of using shampoo. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm a condition washer too but I do use a little shampoo when I feel my scalp needs it. I am yet to find a conditioner completely without mineral oil or without silicones. Both of these are the main cause of build up. I like giving my hair a bit of shampoo just to make sure there is no build up.

That one I don't know the answer to but was thinking that over time you could have a possible build up. I do condtioner washes also but wash with shampoo every 3 sometimes 7 days.

I second that Jade...You know Aubrey's is my all time favorite when it comes to conditioners. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't see why not. I am following the noo poo regimen as well. When I finally decided to wash (I wash wiht poo every 2 months) I use a clarifying shampoo and follow that with a moisturizing shampoo.

I think that it really depends on your hair, and the types of products you are using on it. Currently I have been shampoo free for 7 or 8 months now, but trust me, if I use something that is too heavy, I'll RUN not walk back to a bottle of shampoo. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Also even in the Curly Girl Book, she says you can do a modified "no-shampoo" routine. I think with any system, it's about finding the rhythm that works for you. If you find that you get less build up, you may be able to conditioner wash/scrub and get your scalp clean with the detergents available in conditioner and friction. If you find you get more build up you may opt. to shampoo more often. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I definately agree with you Tara. If it works for both you and Leejure, than why not...it's your preference.

mahogani, i think poo or no poo it is a good idea to have a good shampoo of the hair each 6 weeks either with a clarifier or just lots of any shampoo. 2 cents

All the time, I'm not sure, you may want to clarify once a month or once every 2 weeks depending on how frequently you wash your hair, with shampoo and leave it at that if you're getting great results with the CO washes and limited build up. For me CO washes are a /images/graemlins/nono.gif I have to shampoo all the time.

Lee,

What conditioner do you use for your no poo? I want to re-start my no poos, but I don't want to use my Elucence for the no-pooing, just for the conditioning and leave-in conditioner.
TIA /images/graemlins/smile.gif </font>

I have bought several bottles of the 89 cents SAUVE coconut and have tried the SAUVE CLARIFYING CONDITIONER (also 89 cents). I definitely do not use my Keracare or anything expensive /images/graemlins/nono.gif . Plus i really like the Sauve when doing the no poo regimen! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

HTH!

Except for shampooing during relaxer retouches, I have been no poo since 10/1/02. I usually use Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner. Sometimes, I mix it with liquid shea butter when I deep condition. I rinse with ACV/water. I use an herbal spray containing a little ACV and tangerine EO for extra conditioning/moisturization.

londongrrl, i find that LUSH's okra or coconut conditioners to be ok for natural hair. I can also recommend jasons,or even avalon. They are okay conditioners, especially if, like me you do use oils or leave ins.

Thanks alot canuck /images/graemlins/grin.gif I go to lush all the time but I have never bought anything in there. Being a pj, I'm definitely getting them tomorrow /images/graemlins/grin.gif

MMMM okra.....interesting!
