Voted had no regrets because it was before hhj. However, I'm too nervous to get it straigtened @ salon now.

I have an appt tomorrow morning...my hair hasn't seen a relaxer in 4yrs....
I'm sweating bullets:lol:

I voted "I regret it because it didn't come out looking too hot :-( "

I've gone to a salon twice to get my natural hair straightened (once in 2007, and once in 2011) and I did not like how my hair came out. The one time in 2007 was worse than 2011. In 2007, she left my ends feeling horrible. In 2011, my hair only stayed straight temporarily and then started frizzing a few hours later.

I feel like I do a better job straightening my hair than anyone else. I think this is because I know my hair better than anyone else, and it seemed like these stylists wanted to treat my hair like looser hair textured ladies.

I go regularly to the salon to get my hair straightened and I've had the same stylist since '06. He does my mom and my sister's hair too. He does a great job and knows my hair pretty well.:look: Though since I started growing my hair out in 2010 I started washing/blow drying my hair myself. It's cheaper, I don't have to worry about some assistant getting all freaked out about how much hair I have (and that has happened:nono:) and I'm in and out in less than an hour.:yep:

I had someone that has been pressing my hair since 1989 do it and my trim. She is from a hair growth specialty salon in Detroit. I knew that she would do me good and my hair no harm. It was my first press since 2009.

I've straightened my hair several times by myself and had no issues. I decided to get a professional straightening and I regret it. I went to a Dominican stylist that I trusted. There are two sections of my hair that will not revert, but it does not seem to be damaged otherwise, no dryness or breakage it is just kinda straight. So...I think I will stick to doing my hair myself.

I got my hair straighten a few months ago and I hated it. But, I'm going to try it again a few weeks, this time I will go to a natural hair salon instead of a Dominican salon.

Had the worse salon experience ever, I had my hair blow dried flat ironed and she said it was still too puffy and she used a pressing comb afterwards. It was shiny and pretty but the damage afterwards was irreversible I spent the next year cutting off 4 inches of straight hair.

My salon experience of straightening my hair resulted in heat damage on a small section where my texture is loose. I ended up cutting that section off because it never curled back up; it only waved. My hair has since grown back but that small section is about 2 inches shorter than the other side :/ That was my first and last time allowing a salon to straighten my hair. Now I'm just too scurred... To trust another salon. I was tempted by a local Dominican Salon recently but I started having flashbacks of all the threads I've read on here and changed my mind lol. But I'm sure there are others who've had good straightening experiences with salons.

Went to two different salons to straighten my hair and was left with great damage both times. Last year went to a salon for a wedding that didn't leave my hair damaged but by the time I went overseas my hair reverted. I then went to a salon over there and left with heat damage. I'm staying away from heat for a while to say the least.

I've had my hair straightened twice at different salons. The first lady had terrible customer service and used way too many passes. The results were ok, but kind of heavy. The second time came out really nice but I got split ends from the round brush.

I would go back to the second place. I'd just have her use a different method to dry my hair.

I chose I didn't regret it. I normally get a trim and my hair flat ironed. She gets my hair silky straight without it being oily and stiff. She blow dries then flat irons my hair it reverts without a problem. I don't straighten too frequently though no more than once every 3 months.

I got a Dominican blow out for the first time after debating for so long and I really regret it. She was not gentle with my hair in any way during detangling and I lost a lot more hair than usual and even though my hair was straight it was severely heat damaged. That was the first and only time I've gone to a salon since being natural. Not the last time though. I want to go to another salon, a black salon, and try again. Not anytime soon though. My hair is still recovering.

I went to the Dominicans for the blowout when I was transitioning and man my hair was too damaged. When I big chopped I had to cut off way more than I wanted too. I still have damaged parts that won't curl up but I'm just gonna transition out of it. Smh. Never again. I will just use my Solia flat iron which does awesome without the damage!

Yep I went to this lady who previously did my hair flawlessly.. But this last time it was a hot mess it didn't get straight and was so frizzy! I know she was trying to use minimal heat but I needed great hair for my college graduation pics. So the next day i went to a jcp salon and she flat ironed it perfectly I mean it was gorgeous y'all.. Washed two weeks later I got this one straight piece on the side and looser/wavy textures in the middle and crown. Mind you I am actually a 4c...
Anyway lesson learned I'll be flat ironing myself from now on. Ill transition out the damage and learn to get great results on my own.

I get my hair straightened at a salon monthly and I absolutely love it! Each month I learn more about my hair and the detangling process gets easier each time.
