I have been reading Candy_C's post about taking vitamins and was wondering if any of you talked to your doctors prior to adopting your vitamin regimen? I know that I didn't. Do you really think it is necessary even though most vitamin bottles advise that you consult with your physician BEFORE starting a vitamin regimen?

Thanks so much for sharing Candy! Please believe that B-complex, Biotin and Flaxseed oil sales have SKY ROCKETED as a result of your revelation! ;)

lol oh no! lucky for the vitamin shop owners eh?!

well i never consulted my doc as i dont have any recurrent illnesses etc

but if i did, i would definatelty consult my physician

i will state that in the thread i started...!!

cos i dont want any harm coming to anyone

i'm really into homeopathic health and natural remedies, so i always talk highly of things like that that have worked for me and many others

but personally, if your on birth control you should ask , or research online if any vits mess with the contraception..i dont want all you lot falling pregnant cos of me lol

NAC is an antioxidant...so it may have detoxing effects...

its a sulphur

i havent had bad side effects like i did on msm

...

still, consult a doc if you have any illnesses or conditions that you have medication for.

also research your condition against the vit, as anything could aggravate an illness

:)

i haven't consulted my doctor about the vitamins, but i workout regularly, eat pretty well, and drink lots of water and have no real ailments...candy c does bring up a good point about contraception tho  i may ask my aunt, who's a surgeon, about it when she comes to visit me in a coupla weeks...

Yes, I kinda mentioned it to her and she said all that was necessary. But then again, I looked at her hair and mine and just said....hmmmm okay. I asked, "It's not hurting anything either thought right???" She said right, so that is all I needed to hear from her.

I am going to make an appointment with my doctor because I am getting a phyiscal and obgyn visit before I get married so I will bring them up and the amount that I take. I am exercising, eating right, drinking water, etc. so I believe Im okay for now.

I asked the dr about the flaxseed oil & prenatal b/c I have the combo pack of prenatal it comes w/ vitamin and DHA pill as well. I know the DHA has some fish oil in it so I wanted to know she said it was fine. I asked about the hair skin & nail vitamins she said since they dont have many of the same vitamins it was fine. She said I just dont want to much vitamin A and alot of stuff doesnt have that anyway.:)

i didn't consult a physician at all. what i did was do a bunch of research on vitamins, minerals and supplements online & in the library. and bought a couple of books on vitamins, minerals & herbs. i don't think your average doctor is going to be clued in to supplements specifically for hair growth, unless it's their specialty, or interest. a dermatologist or trichologist would be a better bet, if that's the route you choose to take.
