Please tell me why it would be a stupid idea to put relaxer on a TWA?

if i ever saw someone with a 2 inch twa after they decided to relax it i would probably point and laugh. short relaxed hair looks nice if it has a style to it but a relaxed twa would just look ridiculous to me.

Perhaps you may have to cut the back a bit shorter to give it some sort of style, but I don't think it's a stupid idea to relax very short hair.

I have been sooo scissor happy over the last year or so. I would be APL and then go to the hair dresser for a touch up and come out with a chin length bob. Everbody in the shop would be looking at me like I'm a fool and shaking their head, lol. My hair would grow and then I'd cut it again. Last summer people were rocking that funky mohawk look or Chrisette Michelle hair. I was obsessed with the look, but never wound up getting it done. I had an appointment to do it, but didn't show. So in September I relaxed it myself (I have pics in my profile album). Then in October I just up and BC'd, lol. Of course everyone though I'd lost my mind, questioned my mental health status, calling me Britney, lol. Anyway, it's been three months and it's grown a lot, I should post some pics. Anyway, my craving for the short relaxed look is back with a vengence, and I'm seriously thinking about doing it...

I'm so crazy guys...

If you want to relax it, relax it.

You shouldn't listen to people telling you not to do it if this is what you really want to do.
Sometimes you gotta make your own decisions. Who knows what you need better than you?

I did a big chop, had a twa, relaxed it and now 8 months later my hair is chin length with the nape neck length.

I agree that some professional shaping would have to take place - but laughing at, nawwww that's cruel.

We all have to start somewhere, right?

I thought someone told you it was dangerous or something and I would only think because the hair is so short maybe it is more damaging to the scalp, but if that's not the case, I don't see nothing wrong....

Of course you'd have to get it styled. Why would someone relax their hair and just leave it looking crazy, IF it looked crazy?

I don't think it is stupid at all, when I had a twa I relaxed it, but it wasn't straight it was still curly and really soft, I wouldn't be laughing at all, you do what you want to your hair. I have been down that same road as you a zillion times, one minute I am natural and the next I texlax, I guess I just like change, BUT i decided I will not be chopping anything anymore LOL!!

If you want to do it then do it. It's your hair and I'm sure with a professional cut it will be cute. Post pics!!!!!

You are right. I know it's my decision ultimately.

Anyway, here are some pics of my hair as of right now. Excuse my appearance I am a hot mess in these photos, lol. I wonder if I can get a cute relaxed style out of this hair, lol.

I'm not so sure why I am so apprehensive, considering I have no qualms about chopping it all off and starting over again, if I don't like it. I guess I just care entirely too much what people think sometimes, lol. I'm also very wishy washy. What I love today, I'm not feeling it tomorrow and vice versa.

Lord, knows my hair dresser would love to see me back in her chair getting the creamy crack again, lol. My hubby loves those cute short, Halle Berry's and also long straight hair as well. However, strangely enough he has been more and more supportive of my natural lately. When I mentioned in passing about perming it he said "why would I go and do that now?".

Decisions, decisions, lol.

Your hair looks really cute now! But if you want to perm it, hey, do it! I relaxed my twa before, it was actually really cute, and I would spike it or fingerwave it. If I ever relax my hair again, it would only be a really short length.

If you like to change up styles alot start getting cute wigs that have the cuts and styles you like. There will always be a short angled cut trend out there....just don't comprimise your own progess for a trend that will be in and out in the span of a month.

Allow your real hair to grow and experiment with weaves wigs, crochet braids and maybe even lacefronts.

The way I see it, that expands your options, if you cut your hair short, you're stuck with that untill it grows out again, but if you do a fly cut with a weave you can switch it up till the cows come home and still have long hair up your sleeve when you take it down....it adds versatility.

Also if you want to do a straight look with your own hair there is such a thing as a hot comb and flat iron that can get your har very straight and let you have a new look for a while.

since you're into cute styles, i say go for it. but super short relaxed hair just sitting there...you'd kinda look like someone who "can't grow hair":lachen:

:lachen:lol...ha ha ha YES I know! I do NOT wanna look like one of those "no hair" chicks! :look: I know exactly what you're talking about. At least with my twa it looks intentional or a short relaxed style, not just short, straight and jacked, lol! OMG, too funny...

Remember the cut Toni Braxton had back in the day? I cut my BSL hair to that and my mom flipped.:lachen: It was cute, though and so was I. You definitely won't look stupid. It was easy to maintain. Just wrap and go. It is up to you what to do with your hair. Go for it!:yep:

Also keep in mind, short relaxed hair is VERY high maintenence....girl you betta go getchu some wigs or weave it up and save yourself the drama!

OMG I saw THE flyest lacefront cut into a bob at the BSS Iwas seriously salivating:lick:

I did the same thing back in Summer 2001. Cut off BSL hair and dyed it all kinds of funky colours, lol. My dh and mom thought I was  Actually, I was growing out that cut when I found LHCF and have been here ever since.

It's not impossible to have presentable short, relaxed hair...if that's the implication...

But I had a TWA (some strands about 6-9 inches in length, mad shrinkage) before I decided to texlax. I don't necessarily regret chemically treating my hair at that time, which after wards put me at just above shoulder length, but later I discovered a reason why I should have maybe waited. And that had to do with stretching, because I'm inclined to think stretching with longer hair is a little easier for long term stretching style-wise. With short hair, you can't just throw it into a ponytail or a bun the same way you can with longer hair; in my experience short hair requires more styling maintenance. And NG, again in my experience, is less difficult to hide with longer hair. So that's one thing to consider.

There are plenty of fly hairdo's that can be done on short relaxed hair. IMO, short relaxed hair styles look way better than long relaxed hair especially when the long hair is see thru and looks stretched out.

BUT, if you went thru the trouble of growing out a relaxer and then doing the BC there is no way I would relax it. Get a wig, get a weave, but don't relax. You sound like you like to switch up your style alot. So it's better to do something temporary than having to wait for the cut hair to grow back or waiting for the relaxer to grow out, AGAIN.

Don't do it. Opt for something less permanent like a wig or weave.

really cute, i like it. especially if you could do this to it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_G82F0LvWw&feature=related --> i think it's hot.

anyhow, just be sure it's something you really wanna do, because you may end up regretting it. i did short styles for a few years and i loved it, but where i'm at now in my journey i wouldn't do something like this. so, as you know it's totally up to you, but i'm just saying to take time to really think about 1. relaxing and 2. cutting so much

I think it would be a silly idea to relax a TWA because with so little hair wouldn't it be harder to relax just the new growth?

I say get a weave and have the best of both worlds. I think short relaxed hair requires too much maintenance.

Aww your natural hair is pretty and I am sure you could get a style out of it, but I agree try to get a wig or something else first. IF that doesn't work then do what you need.
