Hello everyone. Still new around these parts, but all in all, this its going well!

I took out my weave (8weeks) and had to detangle while i was in the shower, it was soooo painful. My scalp is still sore. I didnt lose much hair, but my scalp is muy sore:ohwell: I used a wide tooth comb and J/A/S/O/N sea kelp con (love this product) ! But I think its time to step my game up and get a detangler. Any suggestions? Cheap? Expensive? Moderate? Works well with natural type 4 hair ?
Any response will be great ladies!! :drunk:
Thanx
xx

Do you mean a leave in that is detangling or just a detangler? Are you open to using something detangling as a final rinse?

White Rain Tropical Coconut gives me slip so I tend to use it as my final rinse. ORS paks also give slip if u were to deep condition with that. You could also try Aussie Slip detangler...it does the job. I also really like Africa's Best Hair Mayo leave in for slip/softness, and detangling purposes. Its one of my staples that I need to replace.

I use the Kids Organics Shea Butter Detangling Moisturizing Hair Lotion. But this isn't for you if you want cone & paraben free.

Ditto and Giovanni Direct Leave-in. Shampoos: Phytospecific shampoos are AMAZING when it comes to detangling... but the same could be said about the Pantene. Mixed Chicks Shampoo is also a good detangler. So is their leave-in.

Also, a quick trick to natural detangling:
Coconut Oil.
Oil rinse with it, pre-poo, condtion or just moisturize and seal... you'll see a huge difference. Your hair will natural fall loose when you wash it.Maybe other oils might work well, too. Maybe olive or Jasmine.

Those options are great. But what about as a final rinse? Any ideas there? I'm hoping to apply it, then wash it out once i've detangled ! HELP!

What helps me and my daughter is the Paul Mitchell detangler...works for us. You might want to make sure you get it from a salon...might be bootleg otherwise. But I heard that the Crown & Glory detangler was very good as well....just somewhat expensive. HTH

Ditto on the bolded. Just as an addition, you may want to try detangling before washing. You can finger comb first and then comb in sections w/ a wide tooth comb (I like to saturate my hair w/ oil). Then braid into a few braids and wash it that way. HTH!

I have type 4 hair and haven't found an actual product that can easily detangle my hair.

However, the best way I can detangle my hair is if water is flowing over my hair from the showerhead. That's the only time I can detangle my hair when my hair is wet.

When I detangle out of the shower, I have to take small sections and comb through and then blowdry.

Have u tried any detangling products? I tried when my hair is wet, but I'm so tenderheaded that i jus cry through it.

Thats a good idea, I tried it before, maybe i'll re-visit it! Thanx

I use Paul Mitchell the Detangler, as my last rinse out. It works very well and I can run my fingers through my hair just a few minutes after applying.

Wow ladies this has sincerely been a HUGE help !!
I think i'll be going in the direction of the Paul Mitchell.
I checked the BSS and they dont stock Mane-and-Tail products. :perplexed bummer.
But anything added will still be helpful !! thanx again LADIES:grin:

Infusium 23 Leave in Treatment (Repairology)

It works very well in detangling my type 4a/b hair. Thanks to my hair stylist's recommendation, I would have never considered using it. It gives very good slip, so I don't have to mix it with anything.

The large bottle is only $6.63 Walmart stores in Los Angeles.

This is a definite "keeper."

Yes, I have. I've used that Kids Organics Detangling Lotion before. I've tried different conditioners as well. I have also used Infusium 23 for rollersets. But now that my hair is longer, I have grown impatient with products. After detangling, my hair gets tangled right back up. And products make my hair strands matt together. That's how dense and tightly coiled my hair is. So I have to detangle when my hair is soaking wet under the shower head. ;)

Thanx everyone for your input ! I got the Paul Mitchell detangler and hope to give it a try sometime this week !
Again, thanks much

Hello again everyone!
I tried Paul Mitchell the Detangler, and it was amazing!
I was duly impressed with how easy the comb passed through my hair !
I noticed it and it was like "ooOoOoh hello smoothness!" :lachen: I'm happy with the recommendation.
Thanx again ladies!
