Can you ladies please tell me what YOU THINK my hair type is?? My hair is dry in these pictures. THEY GET BIGGER IF YOU CLICK ON THEM. I am 8 weeks post and I have lots of NG showing. You are all such experts and I am too new to all this to make an accurate assessment.

I would say 3a or 3b:) lovely texture:)
 
3c/4a ish....I added the 4a because the length of your hair (from avatar and pic in fotki)looks like it is 4a to me

ETA: I see what you're saying Mama, the length of her hair does look type 4. What threw me off was the curly ng:-) and the picture in avatar looks curly but when you check out her fotki her long hair is type 4:-)

buti m not even going to try an guess, ;) cause my hair was very LOOSELY wavy and alot of ppl said it would be 2c - 3b while i was transitioning an now that ive chopped the relaxed ends its a def 3c hair type.

i dont think you can truly know till your relaxed hair is gone.
so who knows

i took a look at your fotki, if i had to guess i say it will most likely be 4a with hints of 3c.

I agree. Definitely 3a or 3b...not a 4 anything. Your hair is wavy, esp lkg at the pic with the wave creating "under" at the hairline...
 
... her hair starts to "curl" at 1/2 an inch, 3a wouldnt do that, you wouldnt even notice your NG. im 3c an i didnt ever notice my NG till 4 months time cause it takes my hair about an inch to an inch and a half to form a curl.

i honestly think if anything it could be 3c, not 3a.. we would just be looking at dead straight hair (@ 8 weeks post relaxer) if it were.
 
I don't really think you can tell just from looking at new growth. You probably won't know for sure until you have a head full of it with no relaxed ends :)
 
I think we need some more time to see your true texture. Your hair is gorgeous, btw. Are ya gonna transition?

to the OP, I have no idea. Like someone else said, IMO you never really truly know until you are dealing with a section that is au naturale/no relaxed ends.

Wow, you guys are great! You put a lot of thought into this last night and basically........you don't know either huh :lachen:. LOL Now I don't feel so bad. I'ts hard to pin it down. Maybe I got a bunch of different ones. Well I'm going to church now so when I come back I'll tally the votes and then settle on an average. I want to put it in my siggy like you guys have it. Have a blessed morning and thanks for your thoughts on this.:)

I agree with silvergirl. At 8 weeks post relaxer, you can't see any new growth on type 3 hair. It takes anywhere from 3-4 months for hair to start curling.

You have beautiful hair, Lilpaw. I can't wait until I reach your length.

This really makes sense. 3a hair would take a long time to show any hint of curl or wave. I'm just guessing you're 3c/b.

Yep. My roots are dead straight and pulling it into a ponytail, no brushing or product, my hair is dead straight to the ponytail holder. The same thing when it's wet.

Right, I say 3C too and the reason why I say 4a also because the length of her hair is straight. If it was only 3A wouldn't her whole head be curly?

ETA: I just saw your post toinette after I posted. I was looking at the pic in the OP avatar and siggy and automatically assumed that it was just 3C but when I looked in her fotki and got a good view of the length of her head. I say 3C and 4A too:-)

I am 8 weeks post into my transition and my new growth starts coming in around week 3 and it was hard and rough but I noticed last night that the new growth is starting to come in soft with more waves and curls so I dont think we can no this early on what our true texture will be but it is exciting seeing the different textures come in.
 
Thank You all for all of your help and the wonderful compliments :blush2: You all have lovely heads of hair also.

DDtexlaxed, you had me considering transitioning to natural for a minute but then I came to my senses :lachen:. I can barely handle it when it's relaxed:lol:. I am thinking about textlaxing though. I've lost so much hair over the last year and I think texlaxing might give me my thickness back. I'm just sorry I didn't start to utilize your website sooner.

Ladies, after reading all the votes, I think I'm going to go with 3c/4a. :yay:
