hI ladies, I was wondering how I could show some length without flat ironing my hair? (I can't believe I'm STILL on this no heat challenge  !)

I am going away this weekend and I would like to do a thick set of small twists to last me awhile, but I want them to show some length, quite frankly I'm tired of neck length twists on damp hair. I suppose I could put my ceramic blowdryer on low and warm but that would technically knock me out of my challenge...Please Help :ohwell:

I'm probably the worst person to offer suggestions on combating shrinkage, but here's what I've heard people do:

-Band the hair after washing to dry and stretch it (putting lots of bands down the length of the hair, thereby weighing it down). Then twist on the stretched dry hair.

-Use a product like Kinky Curly or Curly Pudding to elongate the hair while twisting it.

-Put duckbill clips on hair ends to stretch.

The rest of the options need heat:

-Apply diffused heat on hair roots until dry, then twist with non-water based products.
-Domican/Egyptian blow-out, then twist hair with non-water based products.

Try banding your hair to air-dry. I did a thread on it awhile back and I have pics in my album. It gives me almost the same effects as a blow-out.

To show length on my hair without heat, I put my hair in about six plaits after washing. I let it dry overnight then I do my twists or whatever style i wish after that. The plaits stretch the hair. HTH

This is what I do as well. Wash, put my hair in about six or seven twists, cover with a scarf. The next day, my hair is stretch out and I can twist with a lot more length. However, once you wet your twists they will shrink up again.

Avocado makes the detangle session much much easier and stretches my hair!
When I will do plaits for the night they will be much longer and the hair will be longer the day after!
