I am such a PJ and I'm really trying to cut down. I find what works for me and then I keep looking for something better. Cheapies work fine for me. I don't like Suave really, but V05 is ok and works wonders for DD. HE I love for so many reasons. So why do I feel like I'm being "bad" to my hair b/c I'm not using more high end products- or even the more natural and organic stuff? The cheaper stuff doesn't cause me any problems and there more easily accessible to me. So why am I sitting here looking at a $60+ Aveda conditioner thinking it is going to perform some type of miracle on my hair???? Why can't I just be happy with the way things are??? :perplexed:drunk::wallbash:

ETA: the only pricier things I cannot part with and haven't found a cheaper alternative that delivers the results for me are Curls Whipped Cream and KCCC. But otherwise I'm happy with Walmart/Target/drugstore products

Well, I just have the mentality that I use whatever works. My only stipulation is that it has to be something I can purchase locally (I hate buying things on the internet). But before you drop that $60 I would at the least try the Sally's knockoff version. You may still be able to get the best of both worlds, without breaking the bank.

I can't justify spending the $60 but I can't stop eyeballing it either! :wallbash: In the end I know I won't do it. I don't mind shopping online but I am trying to make things easier for me.

I say get it. Maybe it will be amazing and if not- maybe it will cure you of your perception of high priced products.

I have healthy BSB length hair and I regularly use Walmart, Target products. I love the endless variety and I still have so many to try. I essentially believe the shampoos and conditioners do the same thing. If you have the extra funds maybe spend more on leave-ins and pomades or maybe specialty lines for moisture or protein. There has only been one product line that I instantly hated due to how my hair felt - Carol's Daughter. I occasionally splurge at Sally's or Ulta trying new things that board members rave about. Just try to use up what you have and keep new ones in rotation.

My advice is that if it works for you, then stick with it. But, if you do want to use more natural or organic shampoos or conditioners, that's fine as well. But I must admit that I was in your position, and I've blown A LOT of cash jumping on bandwagons and buying things just because they claimed natural or organic and they weren't all that. What I recommend to you is that before you switch up your hair routine, do research so you don't have to go through the process of wasting a lot of money experimenting with products that don't work for you. Before trying a product I look at the ingredients, the price, how readily available it is, and how many people sing its praises. I did that when I switched to Aubrey Organics and Giovanni conditioners, and I haven't regretted it.

I have 200+ reviews high end and low end of products and the majority did SOMETHING perfectly for me hair. Not everything, as far as cheapies go, but they did SOMETHING well.

Maybe they could only be a co-wash. Others a co-wash and DC base. Others a co-wash, DC base and leave-in.

Still others...a paper weight. :lachen:

Sometimes higher priced items really do the job the first time, the right way just when I need it.

However, not EVERYTHING need be expensive to do your regimen well.

IMO every regimen needs a cleansing product, strengthening and a conditioning product. Beyond that a needs-specific styling product or protection product (I count leave-ins and heat protectors in this category, for the sake of this post).

That may be for some: AVC, yogurt, honey and aloe vera gel.

For others, JASON poo, Garnier Fructis 3 Minute mask, Sunsilk Smoothing milk and L'Oreal's Ceramide hair mask.

For others still it may be Aveda Dry Remedy, Brilliant Conditioner, Joico Silk Result Poo and Chi Silk infusion. It's whatever your hair likes.

I blend high end and low end to get the best bang for my buck...and my hair! :yep:

I guess I would just really like to narrow down the amount of products I use/buy. I just gave away 2 bags full of excess hair products today (conditioners, DC, poos, styling products). It's a vicious cycle for me and I really want it to END.
