PJ's: How Are You & What Kind Are?

Where are you at with your "PJ'ism"!

I'd have to say I'm in "RECOVERY"!

I was sitting here thinking this weekend about PJ'ism and how far I've come. When I first joined LHCF, I was a PJ in the worst way, then got worse ... then I had a major product shopping spree in September 2003 and ... The year 2004 was about finding what worked BEST and learning to be more selective. And so far, in 2005, I have been more consistent and "less" tempted to try every new thing I hear about. There are a few things that I'm curious about, but I have yet to break down. Does it count if someone buys it for you as BD gift :lachen: . Technically, you didn't buy it, right!:sekret:

RECOVERED  To be honest I am afraid to try anything new  I have a list of products that work excellent for me and I am sticking to them :)

I don't know what stage I am in. I know what proudcts work for me but I am still buying new products. At least this year I will be spending less money on things.

Aha! Now I know what stage I am in.

The Denial Stage.

I'm in the acceptance phase. I accept that I will purchase something for my hair on a weekly basis.

So let me hi-jack this thread cuz misery loves company.

I just got my order from tenderheaded.com. I am loving, just loving my seamless comb and denam brush. My satin pillowcase and silk scarf is the bomb. I also finally found some peppermint oil so that I can make my own Cathy Howse conditioner.

I very much doubt that my pj'ism is going to be cured any time soon. So I am embracing it!

Hey Ballet Bun

I am not a PJ. Years ago when I started hanging out on internet message board, I used to buy this and that. I haven't purchased any new hair care products since October 2004 (that was S-Curl). :D

Well, i bought sta so fro last week and its still sitting in my bathroom. My newgrowth is tightly curled so i dont need it. My parents have decided to intervene. Every time my dad calls, he's like you MUST not buy anything again. ever! You must use every you already have till they're all gone. Sheesh, they need to take it easy. Im not that bad

Yes I am a PJ. I was a PJ before I joined LHCF and now that I discovered LHCF and joined as a member it has become worse!!! I plan to really concentrate on what works for me and stay with it!! I am totally stocked to the MAX--after I try this last product every one has been raving about--NEXXUS HUMECTRESS that is it !!

I am a recovering PJ. The only thing I bought is some new rollers and end papers but that's only because I started rollersetting more frequently. As far as hair products go no I haven't bought anything in a while. I have enough stuff to last me a while and the things I have are working so I don't want to try anything new.

I could not agree with this more. I am proud to say that I have no desire to change what I use or add to my regimen. I have definitely stuck to my word that I was giving up being a PJ. And I am so glad...No more walking down the aisles at the drugstores or surfing online hair stores with itchy fingers!

I am a recovered PJ.

I no longer buy products just to try them out on my hair. I buy the same products or on similar to it only when I am out. I have cleaned out my school trunk, so that I no longer have 10-20 bottle of products and product concotions and when I go home, I plan on doing the same.

I'm trying so so hard, but it's not going too badly.

I've only purchased around 3 'non needed' products in the last month :)

x

I was a mild PJ before LHCF. It got really bad shortly after I joined. :look: I'm in recovery now. I've found a good number of products that work well for my hair. Occasionally, I'll give in and try something that's raved about (lately MyHoneyChild products, them, by the way) but I don't try every thing that's raved about any more. I've resisted buying Oyin, Asha, the new Haitian products, even though I did look. But I'm in recovery...not yet fully recovered. :)

When I first decided to transition I was but I've calmed down a lot. Everytime someone would rave about a product or vitamin I'd go get it. And the majority of what ppl raved about did not impress me at all so I'd end up wasting my money.

I think I am recovering right now but I'm still transitioning. I think figuring out a routine helped me a lot. I don't know what's gonna happen when I chop in the spring though. I'm gonna have to find something to help me with the humidity in the summer. I may have a really big relapse when that happens. :look:

I pick up new things here and there, but I am satisfied with the performance of all my regulars :)

Ditto... I'd say I'm recovering...I can go for a while without buying something new, but once in a while I'll pick up something, and that usually sets off a "binge" .

Same here, I'm glad I recovered because it was out of hand for a minute. :look:

I guess I kind of relapse but I bought suff that worked on my hair. I am being more selective on what I am buying now. Basically I am using stuff up or giving it away.

I a recovering PJ I am I bought a lot of salon products on sale year I just could not resist those great deals.
I joined the No New Product Challenge and I have been using products I forgot I had.
I just keep walking pass those sale tables.

Recovering PJ here I know I am on the road to recovery cause even when I run out of stuff I just make up combinations and hope for the best lol. Yesterday I really wanted to use Penetraiit but I ran out so I mised PM hair repair and the left Emergencee I had and hoped it wouldnt damage my hair. Then I ran out of Biolage Ultra Hydrating conditioner so I just threw some Wheat Germ Oil in my VO5 Honey and Almond and that was heavenly.

I am happy to say Im recovered, but Im not quite sure if its REALLY recovery or just the fact I dont have the money to spend like I did when I started. Since I started nursing school in September, Ive barely bought anything(except a gift certificate from christmas). not even any $1 conditioners.
The only thing Ill be buying is mostly restocking what I have when I run out. for example, I think my humectress liter is getting low so when thats done Ill buy that or another moisturizing conditioner to last a while. I never need anymore shampoo again. I have a liter of therappe and several other bottles of everything else around the house(CON, Matrix, Design Essentials, IC). And I also have multiple conditioners/reconstructors.

Also Im about to start self relaxing so I am investing in Affirm. but that was a deal from a member who isnt using hers, so its a bargain and costs less than one touch up!

hopefully by the time I graduate my PJ tendencies will be long gone. I mean how many products does one person need? Obviously a 10 gallon plastic container plus a few other boxes worth (Plus whats laying around the bathroom!) because thats what Ive accumulated! hahaa....

I am a PJ!!!!!!!!!!!:)

I have relapsed.... but ... I'm a dollar store PJ now ... Oh the wonders of a good dollar store !

you can find so many products for your hair ... I love it!

I'm a combination cheap and lazy PJ.

The Mane N Tail I bought in early January remains unused. I can't find Glover's or Daily Defense Tender Apple in grocery and drug stores nearby, and I'm not motivated to go out of my way. I don't even want to wet or detangle my own hair lately. Maybe it'll wear off when the weather warms up? :ohwell:

My girl! This is me, right here! I did fantastic for abour 6 months and then BANG - I ordered from Sickbay and now I can't be stopped!

That happens to me every once in a while. I'm not NEARLY as bad as I used to be.

I am currently trying to stick to a couple of products. It is soooo hard because I am still finding out what works for my hair and what doesn't. So far I've found that my hair likes Salerm 21, wildgrowth mixed in Elasta QP oil recovery, and surge,S-curl, and HaireverII for moisture. Iam still undecided on shampoos .Hey, what is this Daily clarifying Tender Apple I've been hearing so much about;who makes it and where can I find it? Uhh sorry ,relapse

It's fun reading everyones responses! I think one of the things that tempts me is a SALE  . I have the following inner dialouge:

My Inner Recovering PJ: Wow, it's on sale. Let's try this.

My "Rationalself": Do you need it?

My Inner Recovering PJ: But look at these healthy ORGANIC ingrediants. I could probaby use this.

My "Rationalself": DIdn't you say you weren't going to buy more unless it was to replace something.

My Inner "rational" PJ  : FIne! I will not buy. I'll just ask for it on my birthday ... :lachen: or for Christmas :sekret:

HERE'S A QUESTION JUST FOR FUN:

IF YOU TRADE PRODUCTS WITH SOMEONE HERE ON THE FORUM, DOES THAT COUNT AS PJ'ISM OR RELAPSING :scratchch ? .... SOMEONE PLEASE TYPE "NOOOOO" SOON :fan: :lachen: !
