Pixie Cut Transitioners anyone?

Hi Ladies:
After much research and contemplation about transitioning my 7 y/o dd's hair, I've decided to join her. This new focus will help me keep both of our heads of hair healthy. My stylist does natural and relaxed hair and since I have the infamous Rihanna like cut w/length on top, he suggests that I only relax the tapered back and sides and allow the length on top to grow long, eventually covering the relaxed hair. I think I just want to see what it looks like if I let go of the relaxer all together. I don't want to deal w/ 2 textures if I don't need to.

Anyway, I'm looking for some support ladies, so if you're rockin' it short and relaxed, but transitioning, maybe this could be our new "home" to post our progress. Let me know!

I say go for it!!! No need to relax bits and pieces....but be aware...it wont always be pretty!!! PS for your life!!!

Thanks NubeNap, ITA!

Bumpity Bump, come on ladies, there must be someone else.

How long do you plan to transition for and what protective styles will you use? Any styles to hide the textures?

I posted this on the Transition plan page--but I plan to transition for 7 months, until Labor Day weekend. I am using Ayurvedic washes and Sulphur8/MN to maximize my growth. So far, I'm only doing flexi rod sets to blend and LOTS of hair accessories--these are my staples.

Let me hear from you!

I had a pixie cut, i relaxed after 3 months ... I was not using heat nor braids .. so the transition was a little short

I had a pixie cut when I transitioned.
I didn't use any protective styles, I just went without the relaxer for about two months, then did the bc.
As another poster said, it can be done, but it may not always look pretty.

I would suggest maybe doing a half wig, extentions, or just letting your hair be. Get a good moisturizer for the ng and go for it!

I'm also transitioning with a pixie cut. The LAST thing my hair is right now is pretty :wallbash: ... I suggest braids (if you like them) or maybe wigs, just don't give up!!

Thank you!! DD and I are 7 weeks post now and I'm seeing so many transitioners do their BCs and just ROCK IT, I'm being tempted. I have never been good about choosing and wearing wigs, but I am definitely a lover of braids. I have a feeling they're about to become my new bff for the next few months!! I love your pic, how recent is it? How long have your been natural now?

Florida Girl,
How many weeks post are you? How are you wearing your hair right now? I'm going to wait a few more weeks because the sides and back were relaxed 4 weeks ago and trimmed, so as they get more length, I'll be in braids, probably in May. The top and portions of the back and sides are 7 weeks and counting. So far the new growth is agreeable, I still co-wash on Wednesday and wash and deep condish on Sunday. Slick down what I still can that isn't too thick with coconut oil and aloe vera gel.

Keep me posted on your progress!! HHG!

I am 10 weeks post relaxer now, and I have my hair in kinky twists. The twists help, but I have a terrible case of hand in hair disease, so I pulled just about all the back of my twist out just so I can play in my new growth. I think there's pictures of it in my LHCF profile if you want to take a look.

HHG to you and your DD!!!

MEE TOOOOO :wallbash:

I'm growing out a tapered bob and the only reason I went that short was because of relaxer damage. I've taken to wearing wigs cause that nappiness at the back and sides are not cute. Besides the wig gives you quick and easy access to your hair to DC or whatever you want to do to it.

oh and HHJ
