Hello Everyone! This is actually my first post (lol). I have been searching and searching for good protective style ideas in which the ends of my hair is NOT exposed. (so braids, and twists with my ends exposed are not what I'm looking for).... You can see the length of my hair in my avatar ( I am Natural.. Like 4a)... I am trying to really preserve my hair growth... If you have any protective styles that I can use, please post a picture!

Thanks so much in advance!

Hey,

I you can wear them (I can't, I dont look right) wigs and half-wigs work great. My little sis wears them and retains all her length and her edges have filled in nicely. She is shoulder length in the back, shorter in the front and sides. You should wear a wig cap under the wig.

I dont have any pics yet, but my hair is only a little longer than yours and things like the hairzing and the flexi8 is a godsend when it comes to pinning up hair that isn't quite long enough to put into a nice bun. If you blowdry, you can try the serenity bun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvHH2z4UCPQ), or kimmaytube's bannaclip bun with or without twists(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ciif4oQvdXA) <-Mine is only a little pitiful thing, and I don't do it on twists, but my ends are still protected. One of my favorites is kimmaytube's tuck hairstyle, which is great if your hair is shorter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8kq26aCBQA), I use little combs to hold my hair in place and leave my bangs out. All of these are quick and easy styles (which are my favorite) which take like 5 mins to do in the morning.

Personally I think its too damn hot outside for fake hair, but you can also try things like crochet braids, weaving it up for the summer, and half wigs.

I wear half wigs also..just started..but I don't wear a wig cap...I don't really see the point..but maybe I should start.

..I'll just add a pic of my protective wig b/c I love her so much..also posted in the half wig thread.

what about phony ponies? i hear a lot of people have sucess with them too

I was going to suggest that. :yep:

The twists are pulled back at an angle here but that's not necessary if your hair isn't long enough for that. You can just pull them straight back and then add the phony pony:

Half-wigs and cute hair do-dads are my forms of PS. I wear snoods, cute hats, and other hair accessories to keep my hair off my shoulders. I also wear my hair natural a lot so my shrinkage is a PS as well.

@ Chelly- arent u just gorgeous! :yep:

I co-sign w/a shoe.. I wear my hair natural -alot of shrinkage so its not on my shoulders, but occasionally I wear the phony pony-check my avi <--------------

I've been wearing wigs consistently for over a year and it's been great!! Sorry I don't have pics to post, but I started wearing half wigs and now I wear full wigs. Braids/twist of any style are great too, especially since it's getting warm out.

Other than buns, I wear snoods, scarves, hijabs and braids(these are esp. great for me during the warmer months). However, I do plan on wearing half wigs in the near future, that's if I don't decide to transition to natural next month.
