I would suggest making sure that you have the proper amount of protein in your regimen which we can sometimes neglect as naturals. Im not sure why...but it seems to help if I deep condition with a light protein prior to getting my hair straightened. Also, you may want to skip the leave-in or dilute it. The less products you have at straightening time the better. I also co-sign on the comb attachments suggestions...I consider that a crucial step in the process.

Other than that...I have had great results with Redken Heat Glide...so I dont personally think that is the puffiness culprit...but everyone's hair reacts differently. I hope you find your solution and post the pics!!
 
Bre, I blow dry with a comb attachment, press with a hot comb, and then use my Maxiglide on 5. I will be more than happy to help you out with it if you want. I am only a few miles away in Orange County:)
 
Thanks thanks thanks!!! The redo worked much better. It was the blow drying practice after all. Will post pics either tonight or tmrw morning :grin:
