I am trying to make a decision and the bottom line deciding factor is what's healthiest for my hair. Hot tools has a tourmaline hard bonnet dryer. I know that the tourmaline technology helps seal the cuticle and that is attractive to me.
Is the benefit of the PIBBs just faster drying. MY hair is kinda fine. I think I read something about it having an upward airflow as well. Is the PIBBS more helpful to those with thick hair?

Happy New Year, tallone!

I would say that I haven't noticed anyone with a Pibbs on this board say that they are not impressed by its performance. Based on that, the majority of the ladies would vote for Pibbs ALL the way :lachen:. Shoot, I don't even roller set very often and I want a Pibbs badly .

God's blessings and HTH!

The 1875 Watts - Model #1059 Tourmaline Ionic Portable Salon Dryer?

If so, this is exactly the one that I got for Christmas! I can say that I really like this little dryer. It isnt huge, the head comes off for easy storage. The hood is very sleek looking, it's purple and black and has a little logo on the side that says "Purple People Heater." Drying time is a flash, I sat under my dryer with my rollerset for an hour and I was done (I have a lot of hair up here). It was likely dry within less time, when I took all the rollers out they were all done. It has holes all over the black part so the heat gets pretty evenly distributed. I dont sit so high that my head touches the top of the hood, so my hair dries pretty evenly. Oh and it also has an on/off switch for the Ionic action. This doesnt seem to effect temp nor does it effect speed.

It has two heat settings - low and high. Low gives a nice cool blast, while high gets HOT. Then there are the low/high speed settings. The box says there are 4 heat settings... There are only two and no temp or timer on it. Low and high speeds do seem to produce lower temps as well though. I've used it to DC as well.

Overall I really like it. It was a good investment. A PIbbs, I'm sure it's not! I'm going to try to order the Pibbs by the end of the month with the deal we have going here. It probably compares a little more to the Pibbs 512 being that this model doesnt have temp control (but the Pibbs would still come on top). If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, I think it's definitely a worthy investment.

I love my Pibbs you can adjust the time you are under it and the temp! Plus my thick hair gets dry in 1 hour as opposed to 2!

I have a Gold n Hot tourmaline dryer and it's awesome. I'm so glad I bought it instead of the Pibbs considering how much cheaper it is. It seems to dry the hair just as fast as the Pibbs too.

YUP Foxy thats the one I was referring too. The BSS near my house told me she would sell it to me for $80. I don't want to buy 2 dryers so if you have that, like it, and are STILL leaning toward a PIBBS, i will go with the PIBBS.
Why the hell can't PIBBS have tourmaline?! But I guess thats more important in a direct heat blow dryer anyway.

THANX

If the price difference is not that uge, I recommend you get the Pibbs. I see on the internet that the Purple is about 124 (right)? if that is the case, better add a couple of dollarsand get the Pibbs. There is a nice deal going on right now on the board!!

Well see I'm leaning toward the Pibbs because I am a creature of persuasion, and I have an intense instant gratification thing.... lol

I'm REALLY happy with the dryer, I just figure to get a Pibbs because of the price. This dryer is worth around $170 and my mom bought it for me through Amazon for $130 (with free shipping), so if you can get this for $80 IT'S A STEAL!!!

I'm waiting till the end of the month to decide on the Pibbs just because I really like this "purple people heater." And if I feel then that I should upgrade, then I will. But it isnt set in stone.

I have this same one and I love it. I won't be investing in a Pibbs anytime soon. This workd great for me right now. MY hair dries very fast and very smooth. I love it.

I just got my tourmaline in the mail last week. I tried it out yesterday and for the most part it worked good. But on some rollers I put too much hair so it took those pieces longer to dry. Also I did the saran wrap thingie too and wow my hair was so sleek and bouncy! Overall it was a great investment.

Foxy, you got the Hot Tools 1059 (purple dryer) on Amazon? I wasn't sure about getting it. (*I'm kinda funny about appliances on Amazon*) But if you're saying that it works great, I think I'm going to go for it, since it's on sale right now for $99.99.

One question, though:
*Does the height of the stand adjust any taller than the height photo'd? (*I have a long torso*)

Thanks a Bunch!
