Where did you guys get yours?? I heard that some places will only sell it to you if you are a salon or stylist. I also heard that if you are not a business, they will charge a hundred dollar shipping fee:(

Does anyone know the cheapest place to order this dryer from?

I ordered mine from Flamingo Beauty supply in Florida. The dryer was$ 319.00 and the shipping was $20.00 by FEDEX. I am not sure if it the cheapest price now, I purchased mine over a year ago. Try ebay also.

I think sally's sells them to anyone

I know ebay had them a while ago for around 250 with shipping....I waited too long, but I know a member here got one. I have been checking there like once a week because I want one as well.

See, I just called sallys customer service and they made me call my local sallys store. They need my professional card to order. This is sooo frustrating. I just ordered thru flamingo and they have to EMAIL me back with the shipping. WTF:mad:

You don't need a professional card to order from Sallys. I don't have one and I ordered mine thru them. I don't know why they said that.

Go into the store and ask for their catalog. You can order it right then and there. The shipping is free.

Hello, I am new to the forum. I have never posted before b/c I do not have any pics of myself yet and still am learning my way around. I just purchased one from Pibbs.com. I think they are selling for 300.00? Call them and I think the guys name is John. Tell them that you know someone that just brought one for $209 (that was an ebay price) and see what they say. It can't hurt. Don't buy from adolfohouse. They will send you a broken dryer. I had 3 broken ones from them. That's why I went directly to Pibbs.com.

I don't know why they told you that. Maybe because you called customer service. I went into the store and the cashier ordered it for me. No questions asked. I hope you find one. This dryer is great! Once I learn how to self relax I can say good by to my dominican stylist.

Can I ask, ladies who already own this dryer, what is so different about this dryer as oppose to the others.

For me I can get my head with the grey rollers in under the hood and my hair dries in approx 45mins. I had a hooded dryer that sat on a table but it wouldn't fit with the rollers and it took to long for my hair to dry. I also tried the bonnet dryer (didn't like it), got rid of that dryer too.

It dries the hair a lot faster. I don't use heat on my hair so I use a cool setting around 35 degrees. This is equivalent to the cool setting on my Sally's Ion drier. It takes me 4-5 hours to dry on cool using red and purple rollers. With the Pibbs, I can dry in less than 2. For the ladies that use heat, I have heard that they dry sometimes in 35 - 40 minutes instead of 1hr- 1h 30 min.

Years ago, we had the same trouble when my husband bought me the Artem hood dryer which is very similar to the Pibbs. We went to professional stores, which are fortunately located close one to the other, so that you can switch from one to the other ! The first shop declined to sell to non professional, but the second one and the third one did not made any trouble as long as this was not a dangerous product (such as chemicals). We probably overpaid by a few dollars as professionals get a discount.
I have continued to buy other types of haircare appliances through the years and they have been less and less checking the professional status. I imagine that they prefer to sell ......
As for the benefit of using such professional brand (as opposed to family hard hat dryer), it has already been discussed in several threads. I frequently tells my friends with a smile that it is the most valuable gift that my husband ever made to me. Going under the hood is certainly not what I prefer in life, but at least you know that this type of appliance makes it shorter that with other non professional ones. And if your hair requires many big rollers as mine does, there is more chance that you will enter under than with non professional brands.

Thanks sooooo much guys!!!!!

I called Sallys and they said to go to my local sallys and order. But my local Sallys closed down a while back.

I call Flamigo beauty but they took to long to tell me how much shipping costs..so I canceled my order.

I called Pibbs and they gave me the number of a local distributor cause they could only sell me the list price which was 350

Finally, I found Salon Equipment USA. They were fast, secure and so easy. My dryer was 270 (315 with tax and shipping). Its in the mail and should be here in 2 to 5 business days.

YAYAY! Im sooo happy:)

Thanks for all of your help:)

PLEASE let us know how it goes! It takes me over 2 hrs to fully dry my hair and if this thing can have you dry in under 2 hrs I'll start saving up for it.

can users please post the results/benefits of this dryer? i dont do rollersets because i REFUSE to sit under my lil cheap dome dryer for 1.5hours... if this dryer can set my APL hair in 45mins then i will start saving...

Hey guys:)

Ok so the dryer is AMAZING! Its worth EVERY cent. I love it for the following reasons:

1) Its comfortable. I used to have to prop up 2 phone books and contort my body to fit under the dryer. Now, I can lounge back and type on my computer or read a book. No more neck pain for me:)

2) My sets dry in about 50 to 70 mins. I used to sit under the dry (I had a gold'n hot) for 2 hours.

3) Less Breakage- My sets fit easily in the hood. When they were shoved into the old dryer, they had no room to move. I experienced more breakage from ripping my head in and out of the dryer

4) Heat control - My old dryer had hot and super hot. On the pibbs you can set the temp to anything you like. I dry mine on 50 degrees.

5) Better circulation of heat- The pibbs is more like a fan. The circulation of heat hits ALL the rollers evenly. My old dryer is came out of holes in the hard hat which hit the same spot EVERY time I sat underneath it. I was wondering why I had breakage in the same areas!

That being said, it is EXPENSIVE. I would only buy it if you are doing rollersets at least 2 times a month. Also, it takes up space. Its tall and the hood is quite large so it cant simply fit under the bed or in a small closet.

But I LOVE it. Its made my life sooo much easier. Def one of my best purchases:)

Why did I come in here? I had never heard of the Pibbs 514 before. And now, well you know the rest.
Off to search for the Pibbs:ohwell:

Thanks for the update. I will have to look into getting this one too as soon as it starts to getting cool and I stop air drying! I HATE sitting under the dryer and right now I have to sit for at least 2 hours.
