PERM LEFT ON FOR AN HOUR

Just a quick note about Nutrine Garlic Shampoo...

It is NOT recommended for all types of shedding and certainly shedding that is caused by chemical damage. It is works best on shedding from some sort of internal issue because the Garlic constricts the blood vessels (that's why people take it for blood pressure problems) and pores in the scalp and counteracts the "loosening" of the hair from the follicle itself. So if you recently had a child, or are suffering from seasonal shedding, or something like that, Garlic shampoo is a great option. It's for shedding due to issues with the SCALP, not damage to the HAIR.

Garlic shampoo IS DRYING and on hair that is shedding from chemical abuse or damage it could serve to worsen, rather than correct, the problem.

I just wanted to post that, because since I mentioned it helping my seasonal shedding in September it's taken off quite a bit - but I never posted the caveats.

Use Garlic shampoo responsibly ladies. It's good but it's not for EVERY kind of shedding.

LuvMyHair, DEFINITELY DO NOT DAILY CONDITIONER WASH!!!!! I know it's been said before, but I have to reiterate it!! In fact, after the Aphogee that DatJerseyDyme recommended, I'd moisturize it daily and put it back into a bun and only conditioner wash it once per week! Don't do much of anything to it other than moisturizing and even that very very gently! Also, DON'T EVER LET ANYONE PUT A RELAXER ON YOUR HEAD FOR THAT LONG!!!!! Make sure the person follows the instructions in the kit. If she's going too slow or doesn't know what she's doing, then have her stop and just neutralize and rinse that part and you can finish the other part. Seriously!! We can't play with our hair with these strong chemicals like this! On this board we're all about helping eachother achieve our longer, healthier hair goals, so make sure the directions are always followed regarding home relaxers! If she was a beautician she would have lost her license over leaving a relaxer in that long!

I know you are kind of lucky that you did not end up washing your hair down the drain when you rinsed. I have heard of that happening.

Karezone, I SEEN it happen!!! It's a very very painful site! Back when my best friends and I were in college. One of our friends who had past shoulder length relaxed hair, relaxed her hair a day or two after lightening/bleaching, and it literally just came off. I mean as she was shampooing it was just clumping out in handfuls as if she had put nair on it!!! We were all crying and screaming (she was no doubt crying the worst) and it was just really really painful to witness!!! That's why I'm so passionate about this! These chemicals are NOT to be taken lightly!!

With relaxer left in your hair that long you might have some burn places on your scalp which might sting with the addition of other products.

Edited to add: Also handle your hair gently.

I think neutralizing is the very first step you take before anything else. I really like Elucence Moisture Acidifying Shampoo. The foam turns pink if any relaxer remains in your hair. If the foam is white, all relaxer has been removed. (If it's pink, you'll need to rinse and re-lather until the foam turns white.) You can purchase it HERE.

Good luck, luvmyhair! ((((hug))))

I also had a hair dress leave my perm in for a extended amount of time, and my hair came out in handfuls. I used Aphogee, it really DOES work! Good luck
