I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong.

So I got my hair straightened again, everybody has been complimenting it the whole time, and thats good, but this is what they say. "I like your hair straight you should keep it straight." "I should never see your hair curly again."

I am about to go off on them b/c i am sick of hearing this ****. I like natural hair, i like being able to get up and go, i like not having to worry about my hair getting wet, or sweating out a perm, or my flat iron.

Nobody understands, and i really do not want to go off on someone, but the next ****ING person who says anything about my hair staying straight will get their feelings hurt.

I know what you mean. OT-Every time, I get a weave or something, and I take it out and rock my short hair, everyone, tells me how better I look with it short or how I should keep it that way, and don't do anything else. While I reallllly accept the compliment, I kinda feel weird. I do want to be able to experiment and try different things.
Okay, back to you, people really say how they feel unfortunately. And to them, it probably does look really good. But, that's just people. Still do you, and love it. I am pretty sure you look great both ways, people are just accustomed to liking straighter hair better. But, who cares as long as you love it!

**INHALE** 1. 2. 3.
**EXHALE** 1...2...3...

**BREATHE**

I'm right there with you though.
I got some of that Sabino, And got excited about flat ironing my hair. so I did. And I trimmed my ends about an inch.

I got a number of comments about how great it looks straight. My grandmom who has been supportive of my transition so far, tells me that she doesn't like my hair "all Wooly". My mom who has also been supportive so far looks at the front which has already started to revert and tells me that is need to grease it and slick it down **Grrrr**

And the worst part. My hair feels yucky. Extremely dry and tangley!

I'm not feeling the sabino. And not feeling the straight hair looks better mentality right now.

That's just how people are. When i wear my hair down every once i while they tell me the same thing. "i like your hair better down...:blah:. I just smile, nodd and keep it move'in.

Just tell them this- I liked you better when you weren't talking. You should stay like that. Don't ever let me hear words coming out of your mouth again.

I feel you, try not to let it bother you. But I wouldn't want to wear the same hairstyle. I change my hair alot.

Gurl thats just what they do

and the men suddenly develop break-their-neck- to look at you syndrome

the key is IF you WERE to where it straight all the time, then it wouldnt look as good as it does keeping it natural most of the time when you do straighten it.

they dont get that though

Its funny,,, I feel you OP,, but I used to experinece the opposite,,, back in high school, i would have my hair relaxed and it was EXTREMELY damaged ( relaxer just eats thru my hair, i later discovered lol) and it almot NEVER looked right straight, it was always dull and puffy and well just retarded looking and i wore these tremendous track extensions MAN , my Dominican hairdresser made some freaking mess of me........ I always got the " why dont you braid your hair?" from people including extended family when i was even younger,,,, I wondered why braids??????:ohwell: or ppl just wanted to see it natural..... when i was curly i always got compliments ,,, strait noone commented on my hair,, now that im natural and know how to care for my hair and straighten i get a shiny silky flat iron,, noone ever compliments the hair typically because it isnt out of the ordinary,,, Well , anyway you cant please everyone,, im sure there are plenty og ppl who see the beauty in your natural hair.....

I def. know the feeling. I get that all the time when I flat iron my hair people make a big deal and say how I should always leave it like that. I've also noticed on a lot of makeover shows when someone has the slightest curl in their hair they straighten it. It seems as if some people are just anti curls. Anyways, just stay strong people will always have their opinions and it's your hair you can wear it however you please.

LMAO :lachen:!! Now that's a way to shut them up. Some people are just ignorant and they wil never change. As long as you are happy with yourself that is all that matters.

:lachen: i've said a much meaner version of this to someone before! (but it wasn't hair-related)

some people just like to believe that their opinion of you is all that matters.

I get this sorta **** happening to me all the time :nono:.
Certain folk feel they can have the ordasity to tell me what hair styles they 'prefer' on my head and ask me why I've changed the style I had yesterday, yada yada yada.

AIN'T NOBODY LISTENING TO YOU!

99 percent of the time, I'm complimented on whatever style I'm wearing at the time, but there's just those few people...:clubu:.

I really don't care about what others think but I understand your frustration OP.

:grin::grin::grin: I love it!!!

OP, some people just don't see the beauty in naturally textured hair. That is their problem. If they don't like the way it looks natural, they should look somewhere else.

:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:Sounds like something I might say.

I don't post often, but threads like this one HIT home. I BCed in Oct.2006 and I flatironed for 1yr natural anniversay Oct.2007...to renew my Drivers liscense in Feb.2008 and each time I felt like going on a killing rampage. I love my natural hair. I wear it in twists all the time. Afros proved to be too drying...so I shampoo condition and twist it every 2 weeks. I do not believe in wigs...weaves etc...but when others decide to add these to their look...I don't voice my opinion like they do when I flatiron my hair. But the way to get them is tell them I am embracing my natural hair and all the things I can do with it. They just stand there, then I tell them the twists will be back.:grin::grin:

:dead: I'mma have to add that one to my arsenal!!

Girl I feel you. This morning I went into the Korean beauty supply (I go there often, so they know me), and one of the employees said "you look different today". I told him that I usually wear a bun, but today I decided to let my hair out. He then said "ahhh, i see, well you look much better like this" and walked away. I know he was trying to give me a compliment, but I couldn't help to start second guessing what I look like in a bun :ohwell:

I feel your pain, whenever I wear my hair "big" everyone assumes that my hair isnt done or combed. I absolutely hate when they say i stuck my finger in a light socket. I am truely offended at this and its even worse when "my own people" say it. People are just like that.

I'm not natural but people always say that i should flatiron my hair more..and ya know what i'm like if i flatiron my hair more i won't have anymore hair...so it defeats the purpose.
u just have to do u and don't let other people affect u
