Ladieez,
First and foremost, please anyone feel free to add to this post-this is just not for the aforementioned Ladieez.

I want to know when you deep condition with a moisturizing conditioner (ie Nexxus, Keracare, Tropicals-Avocado, Mizani)do you add heat or just let the conditioner sit on the hair? I found the only moisturizing conditioner I really like with heat is Aloe Fantasia (I found 2 full ones in my closet-PJ /images/graemlins/tongue.gif), but find with the aforementioned products with heat I don't get the "slip" I want...what is your experience?
Thanks!

I add heat...but I have found just putting on a plastic cap and leaving it in for an hour(or overnight) works very well too. When I use heat it seems to work better for me(personally) when I add a little olive oil to it.

Hi NayNay,

I always add heat. I use the heat with the Mizani Moisturfuse, The Nexxus Humectress or any moisturizing conditioner I use. I've read that heat always enhances the effects of the product. It works really well for me. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sweet & Pebs,
That is so weird. When I don't add heat I have a much better slip and my hair is not tangly at all. When I add heat-my hair tangles and it doesn't feel as soft.....very interesting...I guess that gives me an excuse to keep product searching..... /images/graemlins/tongue.gif not until Feb 2003 though /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi, NayNay.

When I use Queen Helene Cholesterol I almost always use heat with great results. (I think this particular conditioner works better with heat or like Sweetcocoa said, sleeping in it overnight with a plastic cap.)

For the Tropical Avocado, I don't usually use heat. I just leave it on for 10-15 minutes or so.

I almost always use Tropical Avocado everytime I wash AFTER a deeper moisturizing or protein conditioner. That's why I call it my "finishing conditioner". It gives me great slip.

I HAVE used the Tropical Avocado with heat once or twice and don't remember whether I liked it or not. This conditioner works great without heat though.

Nay Nay do you think this could be because maybe you are using too much heat as in it's a tad too hot. It maybe that the product is cooking into your hair rather than pentrating it causing it to seem very tangled. I've done this before and I adjusted the heat to a minimum and got better results. i thought the hotter the dryer the better the effect would be.

You know NayNay (sorry I took so long - been on and offline briefly over the past few days) I find the very same thing. For that reason I only really use heat with my protein conditioners when I do them (about every other wash and set). I don't use heat with mositurizing conditioners for that very same reason. I think because heat raises the cuticle it counterbalances the cuticle smoothing effect that the conditioners you've chosen would produce. I pay attention to leaving them on for about 20 minutes to 30 minutes with simply a plastic cap rather than applying heat. I do this whether I do it after a 20 minute protein conditioner under a heating cap or by itself. Many times I also follow up as my last step with a very detangling conditioner like Pantene to ensure I get the shine, feel and glassy appearance that is important to me.
