Overlapped no-lye onto lye-processed hair.

Went to Penny's last friday. I talked with the stylist about my underprocessing problem and the fact that when anyone besides me relaxed my hair that I burned. She recommended Mizani sensitive scalp, which is no lye.
Anyways about halfway thru I realized she had overlapped this onto all the underprocessed lye hair.
At that point I decided to just go with it, but that if my hair broke off I am NEVER relaxing again. (I seriously pondered the big chop 1.5 weeks ago but dh talked me out of it. "Your hair has never been this long. Why do you want to cut it now?")
I ended up with evenly processed hair from root to end. Straighter than I was going for, but MAN OH MAN! I HAVE SHOULDER LENGTH HAIR! NEVER IN MY LIFE DID I THINK I WOULD HAVE HAIR THIS LONG! LHCF RULES!

I got home and jumped up and down in the mirror admiring it.
Anyways that was last friday, and so far so good. Nothing more than my usual broken hair here or there.
Overall I would give her a C.
She cheerfully accomodated my request for privacy and chose the right relaxer for my hair. I was quickly but thoroughly based and only burned a tiny bit towards the very end. Overlapping no-lye onto lye is a no-no in my book but unless and until my hair breaks off I am going to give her credit for doing the right thing.
Her combout was a little rough though, and I did end up with relaxer on the ends of my hair toward the end of the service. She only shampooed my hair once but I was very thoroughly rinsed and when I washed on Sunday, there was no pink in the suds so clearly she got all the residue out. I only got an instant conditioner afterward but that is a Penney's policy and not her personal decision.
She also thinks I shouldn't have waited 11 weeks for a relaxer. She seemed positive and encouraging about me growing my hair though. As well, I had very few split ends and she didn't recommend a trim, which earns her points for sure.
Next time I go I am going to be clear and firm about the overlapping. Now that my hair is even there is no need for that. I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt that it isn't her intention to overlap, but I want to be sure I am understood before the chemicals come out. Also I will be sure my hair is combed out the day before I go next time.

Wow, I didn't think you could treat underprocessed hair with a no-lye relaxer and get it straight. When I underprocessed mine a year ago with no-lye I had to do a corrective relaxer with lye. It still didn't get my hair straight. It took time and several touch ups to really correct the problem.

just keep a watch on the hair make sure that it does not dry out and become brittle, it can do that.

I've been spritzing with distilled water and still doing the grease on the ends, pinned up in a bun.
Today I did a hennalucent treatment and followed up with a shampoo, a condition wash, then LUST mixed with the L'oreal hot oil. final rinse with distilled water, sprayed Pantene leave in, applied coconut oil throughout, grease on the ends and back in a bun it went.
My hair feels a little stiff but that is normal after a hennalucent treatment. A few more conditioner washes and I should be good to go.
I'll keep you guys posted.

Its the stuff you get in the grocery store. It comes in gallons but it is "distilled" water and not spring water. It is nothing but h20, all minerals, etc. removed. I use it for the final rinse because I have hard water.

You can get the distilled water by purifying your water using water filters like pur

Actually, I don't know all the details, but they aren't the same. Pur, Brita etc. use a "carbon filter" which filters out contaminants like lead and asbestos. I don't think they remove minerals, and are not 100% effective (but fine for drinking purposes). Distilled water is nothing but H2O.

Yes, this is correct. Using your pur filter will still be better than regular tap water though, so try that till you feel like lugging the gallons from the store. One gallon usually lasts me about 3 or 4 final rinses. And at less than 1.00 per gallon, you can't beat it for a cheap but effective hair product.

I don't get why you don't just use distilled water. It's right next to the spring water in the grocery store...both are bottled and I think distilled is even cheaper than spring.

Update:
It's been a week and my hair is still on my head. A few condioner washes later (including a deep conditioner with avocado, honey and coconut oil) the hair is soft and doin' fine.

Update 2: I have been seeing breakage every time I handle my hair (about every 3 days) not short strands either. We're talking avg. 3 inches long. Not severe, maybe 5 or 6 but this is not normal for my hair.
I did an aphogee treatment today and followed up with S&S and then some of that lovely Dabur Vatika hair oil. I did see a couple more hairs after the aphogee.
So I guess I have finally achieved shoulder-length hair only to lose it to breakage. My first setback, and I was so hoping I wouldn't have any. the good news is it doesn't seem to be breaking at the 2inches from scalp mark, which is what I had originally feared. I guess I can live with this.
How much breakage should I wait for before deciding to hack 2-3 inches off? Any ideas would be appreciated.
