Organic Root Stimulator version of a curly pudding???

I was considering buying KCCC because I have been worried about drying out my hair when I shingle with Eco Styler. But, yesterday when I was in Walgreens I came across this product by ORS:

http://www.savebeauty.com/Product_detail.php?CODE=20091107162442-1000006693

I came home and immediatly did a search on LHCF but I found nothing... Please tell me one of you has used it and can give me a review. This product is $5.49 vs. $30 for KC so...you know :look:.

I saw this recently too. I think its real similar to the ORS Lock and Twist gel, except the pudding has mineral oil and/or petroleum in it.

Haven't used it.

Going by the ingredients... :perplexed

Seems like it would be very heavy/greasy with just a touch of hold. High mineral oil content if that matters too.

I saw this in the store today but didn't know what to think of it. Has anybody tried it out? The Loc and Twist gel isn't bad.

it looks very similar to curly pudding so it may be a cheaper alternativve. i didnt like curly pudding or kccc so i wouldnt try this. plus besides the replenishing conditioner i dont like the line of products.

But would it matter? I don't think many people moisturize after shingling until they wash, so I don't think the mineral oil would pose a problem.

Interesting. I've never seen that. My sister shingles so I'll have to tell her about this. I dont have enough curl to even bother :(

This has def peaked my interest. I will be on the lookout for it and please post your results if you decide to try it.

Looks interesting, I haven't seen it yet though. There are a lot of ingredients in it, but if you try it let us know how it works out.

Interesting, I haven't tried this but I've tried KCCC, I think if you go over the hair with shea butter or some other oil you wont dry your hair out. learned later to do this. I don't really think KCCC and this ORS product are really the same in function. cheaper options would be IC Fantasia Gel or Eco Styler gel

Where the heck do you get KCCC for $30!?! It's $18 here and $17 online I grimaced when I bought it but it would've DEFINITELY stayed at Whole Foods for $30!

You use shea butter under the KC or the Eco Styler, cause I was talking about the ES drying my hair out. I don't like ordering online that much because I get impatient :spinning: and the only local place that sales it charges $30. I really don't want to spend that much especially since I have gotten mixed reviews on KCCC.

ETA: I have also used the IC gel, and it also gets hard and dry...everything I've used gets hard and dry. Is there no alternative that will allow it to stay soft? I just got my dryness under control and I do not want a setback over shingling.

why do you need a gel type product? is it just for shingling? i love ohm sweet hair pudding with is a moisturizer and it gives definition and hold like a cream gel. it never makes my hair hard but i dont shingle.

i melt a little shea butter and use it OVER the KCCC and it always comes out soft. i mix a little castor oil in the shea. It doesnt come out hard or dry at all, and I know what you mean because it happened the first time i tried it and i didnt use the shea mix. I wouldnt advise you to spend $30 on KCCC. It really is just alright. I wouldn't have spent $18, but someone bought it for me. Theyre all gels, they all get hard and dry but u can use something to combat it, i promise.

Thanks! Where can I get this product? And I don't need a gel per se, I just assumed that would be the only thing that would work...I never heard of people using anything other than gel.

How do you use this product if you don't shingle. Do you mind if I ask what your hair type is?

Thank you Nichi! I am going to try using the shea butter on top of my gel before I buy anything else. I have an 80oz tub of Eco Styler that needs to not go wasted. :yep:

Ill try it if I see it...although I prefer products with more "quality ingredients" mineral oil/petroleum doesn't phase me like that if the product works. Gotta stop at the BBS for ecostyler anyway, if they have it ill pick it up and try it out.

Ok, picked it up...may try it tonight/morning or may wait until the weekend to try it out, but I'll report back when I do.

I LOVE having a HUGE BSS that sells almost EVERYTHING within a 5 min walk from my apt, but it's got to be the worst thing that happened for my PJ habit!!! :( lol

Girlie the $17 size is 8oz and the 16oz is $30 same price no matter where you go unless there's a sale:ohwell: I might try it next summer when my hair is longer I'm only apl now with tons of shrinkage:nono:

I used KBB hair milk on my 2nd day hair that was styled with ecostyler (which I used Kinky Curly knot today under) and it soften my hair nicely and kept/refreshened the curl. I'm going to try the hair milk under it next time. If I can balance out moisture using Ecostyler, I'm sticking with it because I love the styling results of it. We'll see how this ORS pudding turns out...

I wouldn't say I shingle (too long of a process if you are referring to the step by step "Miss Jessie's" shingling process...plus I don't like the end result on my hair) but I do "finger style" with the ecostyler and just rake it through wet hair. I prefer the results of ecostyler so far over IC, Miss Jessie's, and KCCC. Just finished another 32oz jar of the olive oil one and got another...was about to get the 5lb tub of it with the handle, lol, but didn't feel like spending the $9 on it since I was getting the ORS pudding ($6) too.

Yeah, I really like the look of ECO styler but I am having a hard time as it is keeping my hair moisturized. I don't want a setback due to some gel. And, I saw a video where someone did a ph test of the ES and it was very high like a 9. If I can find something to counter this I will definatly keep using it.

This is basically what I do as well...not the 4 hour version :lachen:. Have you ever used an ECO styler other than the olive oil version? Do you you find that one to be more moisturizing?

I've used the regular clear one...if it is more moisturizing, it's probably not by that much. It helps that I wash my hair about 3 times a week using a moisturizing cleansing cream and always follow up with a moisturizing conditioner, but I'd love to find a more moisturizing styling product.
