Tell me not only the name of that product, but also the flavor and where it can be purchased. Also, have you tried any items that are not good?

I am converting my products. I have tried a lot since joining this forum and I have made the decision that I am converting to at least 85% or higher organic and/or herbal based hair products. On a regular basis I have used MOP, Hempz and as of yesterday Aubrey Organics(AO).

I am exploring other products like Jason, Burts Bees, Abba, & Natures Gate. I know that there is more than this out there, so I need your help.

Thanks

Puffy

My favorite (and only) organic product is Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner. I get it at Whole Foods (where you can find pretty much all Giovanni products) and usually it's around 10 dollars.

It smells citrusy...like grapefruit, but it's not overwhelming at all. I love it because it's thick and it really does provide the moisture that my hair needs. Usually I saturate my hair with it at night, put on a plastic cap, then my bonnet/scarf, and I rinse it out in the shower. My hair absorbs most of it so I just rinse out the excess. But it leaves my hair super soft but strong at the same time. It's the only deep conditioner I use.

Are you avoiding certain ingredients? That will make a big difference because even some of the "natural" lines contain parabens, DEA, etc. Just wanted to point that out.

These are some of my favorites:

Leave-In: Giovanni Direct is a staple of mine. I use it after every wash, and it has dramatically improved the condition of my hair since I started using it exclusively.

Conditioners: Aubrey Organics HSR/WC, Nature's Gate Jojoba Revitalizing Hair Masque and NG Herbal Hydrating Hair Masque, J/A/S/O/N Biotin conditioner and J/A/S/O/N Sea Kelp conditioner, Trader Joe's Nourish Spa conditioner, Giovanni Direct 50:50 conditioner

Shampoo: J/A/S/O/N Sea Kelp shampoo, Giovanni Direct Tea Tree Triple Treat Shampoo (to clarify)

Aubrey's shampoos do not agree with my hair.

Not necesarily avoiding ingredients but they definately take out the guess work for me to know if a product is going to work, and I have better results with them.

DEA? NO I did not realize this. What are parabens?

What are some ingredient names to identify these?

Ill do some research....

Just a FYI: Any of you all looking for JASON, or Aubrey Organics, or Giovanni for less, Vitacost.com sells a lot of these products for 20-40% less than in stores, and shipping is quite reasonable.

That's all.
I use Giovanni leave in, and I buy three bottles at a time to keep myself out of Whole Foods...

Agreed. Aubrey Organics poo & condish are $9.99 & $10.29 in my local Whole Foods but around $7 at Vitacost.com

AO HSR is approx $6.50 (condish) & $5.50 (poo) at vitaglo.com
Even with $5 shipping, it's cheaper than Whole Foods (even more so after taxes are added at WF).

I love organic products. Here are some of my favs

Aubrey Organics White Camellia Ultra-Smoothing Conditioner- conditions very well, can also be used for co-washing.

Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner- great deep conditioner, or leave in moisturizer.

Giovanni-Smooth As Silk Deeper Moisture- by far one of the best out there, I use it for co-washes, deep conditioner, conditioner, or leave in. My only complaint is I hate the bottle, its a weird shape and it makes getting the product out difficult once you've used 3/4 of the bottle.

Burts Bees Color Keeper Green Tea and Fennel Seed Shampoo-I usually add about 3 tbsp of jojoba oil to the bottle so it doesn't dry out my hair, but it cleans well, leaves no irritation at all.

Items I tried and didn't like that much

Giovanni-Leave in conditioner...this left my hair with a dry almost crispy feel, i tried using more and then less just wasn't for me:nono:

Aubery Organics GPB- has a slighty gritty feel to it, and made my scalp itch something crazy:perplexed

Alba Botanica Gardenia Hydrating Conditioner-the smell is extremely strong, and it didn't leave my hair feeling soft at all

Also, there are some very expensive "organic" brands out there, be sure and the read the labels because often times they're not even really organic. You can get great organic products from $5.99 to about $12.99. Also if there are parabens in your product its not organic even if it says so on the bottle. :nono:

That is so true. And you can't get the top off the bottle easily either. It makes me want to go online and buy a bigger size (with the pump) just so I can get ALL the product.

But it is my favorite!

Parabens are synthetic preservatives.

You should probably first nail down why you want to use natural/organic products. Without that, it's kind of pointless being that there are soooo many "natural" lines and oftentimes, the only thing that separates them is the ingredients.

Shampoo- Burt's Bees More Moisture Raspberry & Brazil Nut Shampoo- This was my staple poo until I found Castille Soap. It smelled great and never stripped my hair.

Conditioner- Burt's Bees More Moisture Conditioner- I didn't care for it. It gave no slip didn't stand a chance to my new growth.

Avalon Nourishing Lavender- I hate the smell of lavender in this, but it leave my hair soft and smooth so I put up with it. I usually chase it with a con with better smell.

Trader Joes Nourishing Con and the other one but I forgot the name- The Nourishing one is okay as a CW but I actually like the other citrus smelling one better.

Bb. (if you mean, Bumble and Bumble) isn't completely organic, but its close enough. I personally love the line. I get mine wherever I can but you can find it at CVS, Target or at Folica.com.
I love the conditioners and deep conditioning products. I've never tried their shampoos.

I love M.O.P.'s line. THe shop near me sells it (Gables Beauty Supply, they have a website but its down). Its best to buy the liter size if you love the product because it will last you for a very loooong time.

I'm a big fanatic of organic moisturizers. I love She Scent it Seyani Butter, and Qhemet Biologics, but my favorite is Blended Beauty SilkShake. It does wonders for stretching relaxed hair without weighing it down (I find Qhemet Products can be pretty heavy). Its also a really good detangler.

Dark and Lovely Naturally.

It never dawned on me that these were Organic. I will have to give these a try. I am excited.:yep:

I agree with the underlined. Where do you get the liter from and which of their products do you use?

Aubrey Organics GPB - Great for light protein. I don't think I need heavy proteins, so this works well for me. It's thick, lush, and it gives slip...you can't beat that.

Aubrey Organics White Camellia (my #1) - I don't think I'll ever give this stuff up...this is my favorite conditioner. I use it for DC's, CW's and just regular conditioning. My hands glide thru my hair, and I don't need to use a leave-in. My hair turns out a lot smoother when I use it too. I just can't say enough great things about this stuff!

I agree with all your selections and I especially love to co-wash with Trader Joe's NS and it's so CHEAP! I also agree that Aubrey's shampoo's strick the tar out of my hair, I have to add oil to use them up, I will not repurchase.

Bump....

Bump

I have used the Aubrey Honeysuckle Rose Twice and I really really like it and can see using this product on a regular basis.

FYI: As I shopped Vitacost.com for their Aubrey Organic Products, I found that they also carry this product for a good price. I am going to order some. I will come back and tell you all how I liked it.

this looks good! thanks so much for the upcoming review. I am trying to move more towards all natural products and see how my hair responds.

Very well.
Honestly, I have oood and aawwddd over a many product in the past year and a half on traditional hair products, some were :lick: while others :nono:.
Overall, the products that I found that may not have necessarily been organic, but had MANY ingredients provided in many organic products have been good.

I will absolutely continue to post and review this world of nature and so called "organic" products. Right now of the ones that I have tried, MOP, Aubreys and a few Ayurveda products which technically follow the products of natural, moreso than our "organic" products,(I think:ohwell:).

I'd like you to share your experiences too so that I can learn and share what affects these products may have for different individuals.

I happen to love Giovanni conditioners... but the poos are just... 'ok'. I really don't think i'd repurchase their shampoos again :ohwell:. The tea tree poo is ok... but the 50/50 shampoo leaves my hair feeling very matted and tangly... I just don't really like it. I might just have to stick with regular poos.

I agree with this statement. I think that you need to know what you are buying first, and not just reading the label that SAYS organic or natural.

You mentioned Abba Products? they are about as natural as Johnson's baby shampoo.

I don't use many commercial products at all - So I am sure the other ladies may be able to help you.

You are correct about the ABBA.

We discussed that earlier, here is what we found....

:hug2::kiss:

Thank you!
I forgot about that review list that you have.
I justed ordered the Jason's Aloe a couple days ago and am waiting to get it from Vitacost. Hopefully, I will get it today.

I have some all natural product reviews from Burt's Bees, JASON, and Nature's Gate in my drugstore album.

I just started using Nature's Gate jojoba revitalizing conditioner and I LOVE DCing with it. :love4: It doesn't go on super thick, but it leaves your hair feeling very soft and moisturized. :yep:
